How cute are these baby Jester lettuce seedlings?!
Did you know there are four main types of lettuce?
Romaine, which forms tall oblong heads.

Crisphead, grows in tight heads that resemble cabbage.

Butterhead, which grows soft, thick-leaved heads.

And Looseleaf, or leaf lettuce, forms a loose rosette of tender leaves off the stem.

There are tons of different cultivars of each of these main types. For example Jester is a variegated type of Romaine!

One of my favourite things every year, is trying something totally new and exciting. Even if I can’t plant it outside. It’s just fun to mix things up once in awhile.(I’ll post photos later of my dragon fruit that I started from seed last year.) What are some cool things that you are trying this year? or have maybe tried in the past? Was it a success?

My favourite time of year! Getting everything ready to go for gardening season. This year I’ll be offering a few more options for bedding out plants.
Tomatoes (of course)
Peppers
Broccoli
Cauliflower
Cabbage
Cucumbers
And some herbs even!
