Itβs officially time to turn on your irrigation system and begin the watering season.
Nice weather is here, lawns are waking up, and June is when smart watering really starts to matter.
Make sure your timer is set to AUTO, your watering days are active, and your Hydrawise controller is online and running.
June watering tip:
For established lawns, focus on deep watering β not shallow watering.
Short, light watering encourages shallow roots. Deep watering helps moisture reach down into the soil, encouraging stronger, healthier roots that can handle heat and dry weather better.
A good goal is to water long enough to soak the soil a few inches deep. Early morning is best, ideally between 4 AM and 8 AM.
For freshly sodded lawns, the approach is different. New sod usually needs more frequent, lighter watering at first to keep the sod and soil beneath it consistently moist until the roots begin to dive down.
Established lawn? Water deep.
Fresh sod? Keep it moist while it roots.
Happy watering from the Kerr Sprinkler Systems team.
