Not all white paint colors are created equal! With hundreds of white paint colors available, it can be a daunting task to choose the one that works best in your space. And, despite what you might see or read online, there is no fail-proof, perfect white. White paint can be very tricky, with lots of different variables affecting the color you see on the wall.

Take these photos for example. They were taken at different times during the day. The trim, door, and walls are all the same white color. Yet, the lighting, fixed elements, vanity color and other factors all contribute to the slight variances you can see. Because white has such a high light reflectance value, it is heavily influenced by its surroundings. Choose poorly, you end up with a hot mess. But, when you get it right (like in this space), everything seems to just fall into place!

A great way to add interest to a small space when architectural details are lacking is by using wallpaper. Some homeowners shy away from it because they are worried about resale. But here’s the thing, when applied correctly, it’s quite easy to remove. My advice if you’re going to use it is to choose what you love! Chances are that it won’t be liked by the next homeowner anyway, so you might as well pick something that makes you happy! Especially if you’re planning to stay in your home for 5+ years!
