The garden is still kickin' I just don't remember posting on here! This year I planted tomatoes, orange and yellow bell peppers, pickling cucumbers, romaine lettuce, three varieties of beets, radishes, kale, swiss chard, three varieties of leafy lettuces, parsley, dill, dragon tongue beans, Canteloup, carrots, basil, kabocha squash, cabbage.... Hmm I think that's it! Lol

Haven't posted much this year, even though it's been a great gardening year.

Now that the warmer days are most likely behind us, it's time to plant those garlic bulbs! I saved some of this season's garlic for replanting!! Make sure to protect the planted bulbs with a layer of straw, dead leaves or light mulch to give them that extra help to survive the winter and give you more garlic (and scapes) next summer!

To save time in the Spring, it's a good idea to put in the hard work in the Fall!! Cleanup and prep the beds is an important part of the Fall routine! You can either amend the soil now or do it in the Spring or both! I took the advantage of my cleanup mood to redo my wildflower bed too! I'm thinking of transforming it into a new garden bed! :) More space is always a good thing!

Well I've been Googling cucumber recipes!!! What have you been up to? I was pleasantly surprised that there's lots of baking recipes for cucumbers that I will surely try because there's so much cucumber salad you can eat! Oh and we can't forget the zucchinis!! What are your favorite cukes and zukes recipes?

Garlic is beautiful this year though!!! And got some potatoes before the potato beetles got the best of them!

Well what 8 days of being gone can do to a garden! When you think you won't get anything this year, don't despair. Go on a trip and leave it for over a week and ta-da!!! Anyone else who were having issues with their gardens finally are having growth and production? Now time to get those weeds out (they also loved my absence)!! Lol

I haven't posted in a while, well there's a reason! Not much to report, unfortunately. For some reason, even though I consider myself a seasoned gardener, the garden isn't producing much this year. Should I blame the delay in planting, the inconsistent watering early in the season, the cooler start to June, not enough sunlight because my front tree is now much bigger than it used to be, and covering parts of the garden in shade later in the day or being too lazy to put compost or manure in my beds in the Spring? There are a bunch of reasons why this year isn't as productive. Oh well, not all is wasted though, I'll focus on short-season crops I suppose, like leafy greens, radishes, peas, and beans. I hope you guys are having more luck than I am, but if you're not, don't despair, sometimes the season is just not your year (even though it's a gorgeous summer so far)! :) I'm almost embarrassed to share a picture of my garden hahaha but I like to share my ups and downs of gardening so here it is! lol
