CHBA National

CHBA National Since 1943, the Canadian Home Builders' Association (CHBA) has been "the voice of Canada's residential construction industry."

CHBA seeks a strong and positive role for the housing industry in Canada’s economy and in the life and development of our communities. In addressing this goal, we support the business success of our members. We work to ensure Canadians have access to homes that meet their needs at a price they can afford to pay, and that the interests of homebuyers and homeowners are understood by governments. And

we provide information to Canadians to help them become more informed and confident when they buy a new home, or hire a renovator to improve their existing one.

The finished renovation is what you see. The process is what you live through.

That makes the professional behind the project just as important as the final design.

Chris Willis of MAC Reno Design-Build, a builder, RenoMark renovator, and Canadian Home Builders' Association - Vancouver Island member, explains how RenoMark helps homeowners identify renovators committed to clear professional standards. He also shares what to consider before choosing someone to manage your renovation.

RenoMark renovators are CHBA members who commit to a renovation-specific Code of Conduct, including written contracts, warranties, proper insurance and staying current with building codes.

A skilled trades career in residential construction can take you further than many people realize.

Across Canada’s residential construction industry, about one-fifth of the current labour force is expected to retire over the next decade. That means the next generation of skilled workers will play an important role in building and renovating the homes Canadians need.

The path can start with earning while you learn. From there, it can lead to hands-on work, leadership, project management, health and safety, training, estimating or even business ownership.

It can also offer something many careers do not: skills that can stay useful if life takes you somewhere new. Homes are built and renovated in communities across Canada, so residential construction experience can matter well beyond one job site.

Empire Custom Homes, a member of BILD Calgary Region, won Best Bathroom Renovation at the 2026 CHBA National Awards for Housing Excellence.

Their winning project transformed an outdated primary suite into a calm, modern retreat designed around comfort, privacy and daily routines.

The renovation reworked a disconnected second-floor bathroom into a more natural flow between bathing, beauty, storage and relaxation. Details like the marble-wrapped vanity, patterned tile around the bathing area, discreet hospitality station, and makeup space concealed behind a mirrored storage door help bring the spa-like feel to life.

It is also practical. Integrated drawers, dedicated shoe storage, a defined seating area, accessible storage, grab bars, and Lutron-controlled lighting all support a space that feels refined, functional, and easy to use.

Which detail would you want in your own ensuite?

Essential public infrastructure plays a major role in getting new housing built.

Through the Infrastructure for Housing Initiative, CHBA member Canada Infrastructure Bank is investing in the infrastructure needed to enable and accelerate new housing construction across Canada.

CIB offers low-cost financing to developers while sharing in risks related to the timing of growth, with repayment linked to increases in housing units as that growth materializes.

From transit and water to wastewater, civil works and connectivity, these targeted investments help unlock the conditions housing projects need to move forward.

CHBA member Owens Corning Canada is a global leader in insulation, roofing and fibreglass composite materials.

Its PINK NEXT GEN™ FIBERGLAS® insulation uses advanced fibre technology for up to 23% faster installation compared with existing Owens Corning products. Improved stiffness helps it fill standard cavities and stay put, while fewer clumps and chunks support fast, clean cutting and splitting.

The insulation also offers less dust for a more comfortable installation and less cleanup. It contains no added formaldehyde, requires no hazardous chemicals to be mixed on site and is UL GREENGUARD certified for low VOCs.

When a renovation goes off track, the right professional can become the hero of the story.

A year into a full-home renovation, a family of six was left with no contractor, no permits and a gutted house. CHBA member Greening Homes stepped in to address unfinished electrical, plumbing, structural and HVAC work, then helped bring the renovation safely across the finish line.

It is a powerful example of the experience, planning and accountability professional renovators bring when the stakes are high.

Put experience, planning and accountability behind your renovation from day one. Find a RenoMark renovator for your next project:
