So I don't normally negatively review a company online... but Green Terra Homes out of Trenton actually took thousands from us and did nothing.
I wanted so bad to work with Green Terra. Despite acting like they could do anything they simply didn't have the service to back it.
Maybe they can build tiny homes... but custom full sized modular homes? No. They claim yes. I'm telling you, no.
To start... they asked for $5000 before they'd even meet with us; and you have to pay the full cost of the build up front before they'd even done a thing. Which honestly now that I write this, sounds like a scam.
Once we started the planning process we were constantly poking for information and despite again and again being promised dates for deadlines for plans and progress we would receive no information. We had spent thousands for nothing. We spent a month working with Green Terra and in that time they couldn't even deliver a set of basic drawings. (Despite being provided autocad drawings to scale at the start.)
When someone says "I'll call you Friday" and they don't, am I wrong to hold them to that? What about waiting an entire extra week? Then I call and ask questions and am told "I'll call you in an hour." Nothing. I don't understand.
They also didn't refund our money. They asked us to fill out a refund request (because we literally didnt receive anything for our money) which we did. They asked us to wait 45 days and we received nothing. We called, we emailed, we asked. We were ghosted.
Our mortgage lender also refused to work with them. Apparently the lender's experience was so negative they refused to send them money for any kind of work. Which after the amount of frustration we'd endured; I was thankful to close the door on this chapter.
Even contractors we've spoke with since then just keep telling us horror stories that other customers have dealt with. Bailing mid process like we had to, receiving final products they were unhappy with etc.
In the words of our mortgage broker... "The $5000 you lost might be the best money you've ever spent." At least we didn't end up building with them.
