It's the time of year when we start thinking about our indoor spaces.

One 'special' space is the bathroom: busy, essential, and often in need of a polish. Maybe yours needs a new floor, new vanity, new wall treatment, or maybe that old bathtub's just gotta go.

I did all of the above for this client's cottage bathroom, and brightened it up with new porcelain tile too.

Just finished this job for a new customer. They had a deck, but it wasn't quite stable enough and there was no railing.

To make it safe, I added more structure underneath. Then came the fun part: aviation wire for the railing.

You have to look to see it in that final photo, and that was the goal: a railing with a view. While we often think of glass, this is a much more cost-effective solution.

In the 9+ years I've been offering my services in cottage country, I've been lucky to connect with a few clients that call on me to create unique solutions.

I first met Grace 7 years ago. She lives in a Quonset hut (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quonset_hut), and I know when she calls on me, it'll be an interesting design request: anything from hanging a ceiling fan, to railings and fences built with wood from her land, to custom doors, to pine ceilings, to an external wood façade.

She was kind enough to share a testimonial of our work together:

Adding a smaller structure or sheltered space creates function and value for a home or cottage property.

I altered the roofline to align more with the other outbuilding and then upgraded the inside plywood shell to make it a private workspace/getaway.
