There is nothing that satisfies my soul more than a plateful of piping hot biryani along with raita. If I have time I make mirchi ka salan to along with it or baghare baingan, but raita is just fine too.

I make biryani at least once every week. And kacchi biryani is very easy to make. The only time consuming step is slicing and deep frying onions, in my opinion. Rest is just marinating the chicken then layering it with half cooked rice and cooking it on low heat.

The recipe is on my blog. If you haven’t yet tried it please do.

My garden is showing signs that the growing season is almost coming to an end. But I am not ready yet. This year we purchased raised beds from and filled them up using the lasagna layering method of cardboard, grass clippings, soil and compost. I have only been container gardening since a few years but growing vegetables in raised beds has given me spectacular results. The cherry tomatoes have been wonderful, we harvest big bowls of them every evening and we love snacking on them. I have also had a great harvest of Kale and we are eating kale chips and in raw salads almost everyday. I have also steam cooked and frozen kale for use in winter following the tips. I have come across so many wonderful gardeners that share their tips and knowledge, thank you so much for doing that. This was also my first year growing bottle gourd and I am also so mesmerized and amazed watching how the vines wrap onto the netting support. I have learned a lot this year and I can’t wait for next years growing season, I have already ordered a few seeds and planning on my garden layout for next year. So please tell me what are some of your favourite vegetables that you like to grow in your garden? Please let me know. I am a tomato lover and I am always looking for varieties that are meaty and less seedy, slightly sour that make great curries. So please share your favourites ☺️💚 Enjoy a few pictures from my garden 🌸

Dinner today was Gosht ke Pasindo ka Salan
There are two variations of this lip smacking delicious curry that I learnt while growing up, one way that I learnt from my mother and both grandmothers- paternal and maternal, and the other way is how my late mother in law used to make. My mother in law never added sliced sautéed potatoes and green beans and black pepper powder to the gravy while my mom always did. Make it any way you prefer but both are super delicious.
The gravy has boneless veal meat cooked in a thick sauce of yogurt, roasted peanuts, coconut and onions. It is my husbands favourite curry to eat with rice or parathas.

We finished our raised garden beds a few days back and I am so excited to finally have a large space for my kitchen garden ✨ I have tomatoes, green beans, peppers, bottle gourd, kale, lettuce, eggplants, raspberries , peach, blueberries and strawberries growing in my backyard this year 🍓🥬🌶🍑🍆🍅

It is a lot of work but I love every bit of it 💚

Simple and quick Shepherds pie that I made using leftover Keema mixed with frozen vegetables, and topped with steamed mashed potatoes mixed with butter and evaporated milk. Makes a great comforting dish on a cold night ❄️ ⛄️

I usually make salads for my husband’s lunch for the whole week and store it in the refrigerator.

This week I made him a salad using the following ingredients. Just layer them all one by one in an airtight container.

Fill each container with:
1/2 cup cooked quinoa,
1/4 cup boiled whole moong with skin (or any beans or boiled chickpeas) ,
1/4 of one cooked shredded chicken breast,
1/4 of one bell pepper chopped,
1 1/2 tbsp each of sunflower seeds and dried cranberries,
& then sprinkle with feta cheese.

Enjoy ☺️❤️

Dear friends, I want to see how everyone arrange/store their spices. I got my kitchen renovated and I was looking for ideas on how to better store/ organize spices, especially red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt which are the three vital spices in everything we cook.
I was using mason jars but I am tired of opening individual lids of the jars. I also tried the masala dabba but they are too small and require refilling too often.
How do you store your spices? Show me ☺️❤️

I couldn’t resist purchasing organic carrots that were sale the other day in the store. We love Gajar ka Maatha along with parathas at breakfast. Pure bliss. And a cold weather must have 🥕 I have posted the recipe in the highlights, and also on my blog 🧡
