Building Community Together

Southport Aerospace

Southport Aerospace has been an incredible supporter of Highway Community Kitchen since the very beginning.
In addition to their financial support, they have consistently shown up with volunteers, ideas, and encouragement to help us grow. Their team brings enthusiasm, energy, and a genuine desire to make a difference in our community.
We appreciate the interest they take in our journey. Fresh perspectives often help us see new opportunities, and their willingness to share ideas and work alongside us helps keep us moving forward. The support and encouragement they bring remind us that we are heading in the right direction.
Thank you to everyone from Southport Aerospace who has volunteered with us and supported our mission. We are grateful to have you as part of the Highway Community Kitchen family.

To Our Guests and Community Members,

We are committed to helping wherever we can. If you require assistance when Highway Community Kitchen is closed, please contact us by email at [email protected] or send us a private message through our page.
These communication methods are monitored by multiple coordinators and are the best way to ensure your request is received and addressed as quickly as possible.

We kindly ask that you respect the privacy and personal time of our volunteers and coordinators outside of kitchen hours. While we are passionate about supporting our community, we also have families, work commitments, and personal responsibilities that require our attention.

A great deal of planning, preparation, food sourcing, fundraising, and coordination takes place behind the scenes to make each meal possible. By contacting us through our official channels, you help us respond more effectively and ensure that no request is missed.

Thank you for your understanding, your respect, and for helping us maintain a healthy balance that allows us to continue serving our community.

Building Community Together
Enns Bros.
Enns Bros. of Portage has been a valued supporter of Highway Community Kitchen throughout our journey.
Their team has contributed in many ways. They provide volunteers who are always willing to jump in and help, but they also bring fresh ideas and perspectives. Sometimes progress comes from having people who challenge us to think differently, ask good questions, and help us find new solutions. Other times, it simply takes willing hands to get the work done.
Whether it's helping with daily tasks, supporting special projects, or finding ways to move more eggs than we ever imagined possible, Enns Bros. has consistently stepped forward when needed.
Most importantly, they bring people who care about their community and are willing to be part of the work. We are grateful for every volunteer who has donated their time, energy, and enthusiasm to help make our kitchen a welcoming place for all.
Thank you to the entire Enns Bros. team for standing alongside us and helping us build a stronger community.
If your business, organization, or group would like to join us on this adventure, we'd love to hear from you. Reach out at [email protected]. ❤️

What a day!
Today Ahmed, Clarence, LeeAnn, and I had quite the day. Despite a few challenges, the team stayed positive and focused. As Clarence said, "We're going to make this work."
And they did.
A huge thank you to my crew for stepping
up.
It was wonderful to see some faces we don't always get to see and our regulars.
By the end of the meal, we had served 48 guests.
Thank you to this amazing crew for your hard work, flexibility, and commitment to our community. Days like today remind us that when people come together, great things can happen. ❤️

Today we would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Michelle, who volunteered with us through the Enns Brothers Community Volunteer Program. Michelle, your help was greatly appreciated, and as always, we truly enjoyed your company. Your willingness to give your time and energy helps make what we do possible.

We would also like to express our sincere gratitude to Portage Mutual Insurance for their generous donation of food, which was served to our guests today. Community support like this helps us continue providing nutritious meals in a welcoming environment for everyone who comes through our doors.

Thank you to Michelle, Enns Brothers, and Portage Mutual Insurance for helping us strengthen our community, one meal at a time.

And as always thank you to Dawn,Brian and Ahmed for all you do. ❤️

Building Community Together

Mayor Knox and City Councillors

There is always a special buzz in the air when the leaders of our community step into the kitchen.
Mayor Knox, Councillor Porter, Councillor Masi, Councillor Nicholls, Councillor Epsey, and Councillor Doyle have all volunteered their time with Highway Community Kitchen. From the moment they arrive, they jump right in—helping with meal preparation, serving guests, cleaning up, and, most importantly, taking the time to connect with the people we serve.
What stands out most is their willingness to sit, visit, listen, and learn. They take the time to hear the stories, concerns, and experiences of our guests, showing that every member of our community matters.
Our guests genuinely enjoy being served by the Mayor and Councillors, and those visits create meaningful conversations and connections. Their involvement reminds us that building a stronger community happens when people come together, regardless of their role or title.
We are grateful for the time, support, and encouragement they have given Highway Community Kitchen, and we look forward to welcoming them back again soon.

If you or your business would like to become part of the Highway Community Kitchen volunteer family, we'd love to hear from you. [email protected]

Even a commitment of just 2–4 hours a month can make an enormous difference in the lives of our guests and in our community.

Building Community Together is about recognizing the people, businesses, organizations, and volunteers who help make Highway Community Kitchen possible. Every act of support, big or small, helps strengthen our community.

Building Community Together

Portage Mutual Insurance

Portage Mutual Insurance is one of our key community partners.
Since our very first conversation with Taylor about volunteer opportunities, they have consistently shown up for Highway Community Kitchen. Working together to schedule volunteer shifts has always been easy, and their support extends far beyond simply filling a spot on the schedule.
Their volunteers jump right in, helping with food preparation, serving, cleaning, and whatever else needs to be done. They are always willing to lend a hand wherever it's needed.
Their generosity doesn't stop there. Time and again, Portage Mutual Insurance has stepped forward with food donations, often arriving just when they are needed most. Seeing them walk through the door with much-needed supplies brings relief to our volunteer team and helps ease the pressure on those planning and preparing meals.
We are grateful for their continued support and for their commitment to helping us build a stronger, more caring community together. ❤️

Building Community Together:
Portage Physiotherapy

Portage Physiotherapy has been supporting Highway Community Kitchen since the very beginning of our reopening in January 2025. While everything was still in the discussion stage, they stepped forward with financial support at a critical time, helping turn an idea into reality and making our reopening possible. Their encouragement and belief in what we were trying to accomplish provided both practical assistance and confidence when it was needed most.
When we began discussing the possibility of our Information Luncheon, Portage Physiotherapy once again came forward to help. Later, when we explored the idea of a Business Volunteer Program, they were pleased to be involved and lend their support.
Like any organization, we occasionally find ourselves short of helping hands. When those moments arise, Sarah and the team at Portage Physiotherapy are often just a phone call away, ready to step in and help wherever they can.
Because of community partners like Portage Physiotherapy, Highway Community Kitchen has been able to grow, adapt, and continue serving our guests. Their support has come in many forms over the past year—financial assistance, volunteerism, encouragement, and a willingness to help whenever needed.
If your business would like to volunteer with us for as little as a couple of hours each month, we'd love to hear from you.

Together, we are building a stronger, more connected community—one meal, one volunteer, and one act of kindness at a time. ❤️
