The Urban Farmer Permaculture Design Urban Agriculture Organic Gardening

The Urban Farmer empowers individuals and communities in developing local food systems that are healthy, resilient and sustainable and that are integral to the ecology of their place. With more than half of the world’s population now living in cities, we urbanites must play a key role in ensuring our own food security while protecting and nurturing local bio-diversity. The choices we make in our o

wn backyards, including the way we feed ourselves, have tremendous implications for our own health and wellbeing and for the health and wellbeing of the planet. Drawing from the vision and practice of permaculture, urban agriculture and organic gardening, The Urban Farmer supports the development of natural, sustainable and edible landscapes in urban and peri-urban areas through a range of educational, consulting, research, design and specialized landscape installation services.

FINAL WEEK TO REGISTER FOR FOOD, FARMS AND FORESTS - CUBA 2024!

As we move into the longer nights of winter, and times of dreaming and planning for our gardens and farms, I invite you to join us on a winter trip that I know will inspire and motivate you!

The dates are February 06-21, 2023

Ever since my first trip to Cuba more than 15 years ago, I continue to be amazed by what Cuban farmers and self-provisioners are able to accomplish in such challenging circumstances. That is what has kept me going back 39 times!

I invite you to come and join us as we meet with organic farmers, permaculture practitioners, urban producers and Cubans involved in the ongoing quest for food security in that country. This program offers you a window into the Cuban story that you would never be able to access in the tourist bubble.

This trip will take us from one end of the country to the other, from cities to the country side, from farms to forests, from Cuba's burgeoning private restaurant scene (paladars) to eco-retreats!

THERE ARE ONLY TWO MORE SPOTS FOR THIS PROGRAM AND YOU MUST REGISTER BY DECEMBER 10!

Whether you are a farmer, gardener, food security advocate, or just Cuba curious - ALL are welcome!

Oh - and of course we'll visit some of the incredible cultural, historical and artistic sites that make Cuba such a rich and exciting place to be!

Hasta Pronto!!
