We are certified Ecocert Canada. Hardy Fruit Tree Nursery is located in Sainte-Julienne, one hour north of Montreal, in the Lanaudiere region of Quebec, Canada. We propagate, grow and sell fruit trees that are adapted to the northern climate. Our vision is to provide every individual and farm the possibility to successfully grow fruit trees. Our nursery started at the very beginning because of the

disappointment in not finding any proper fruit or nut trees for colder climate than zone 5. We aim to provide clear and simple information through our website so that anybody will be able to grow fruit trees without problem. And we ship all over Canada (except British Columbia) at an affordable price!

We’re looking for a home for our discounted walnut trees!

We recently found a few bundles in cold storage, and they’re now offered at 1/3 of the price.

They are discounted mainly because the top leader was cut. They will need to be staked at planting to encourage straight growth, but they are otherwise healthy, with a beautiful, well-developed root system.

Available in bundles of 20 or 25:
• Buartnut (hardy to zone 5)
• Heartnut (hardy to zone 4b)

Available for pickup this weekend during our open doors, or for delivery starting May 11.

We were recently honoured to be invited onto the Food Garden Life Podcast with Steven Biggs! 🎙️

Véronique had the pleasure of representing our team at Hardy Fruit Tree Nursery to talk about one of our favourite topics: Hardy Fruit Trees! 😉

At the nursery, we are constantly looking for ways to help gardeners find success even in the harshest northern winters.

In this episode, we discussed the strategies we use at Hardy Fruit Tree Nursery:

➤ Fruit trees, bushes, and cultivars specifically for cold zones.

➤ Growing a flowering and fruiting plum hedge (our favourite cedar hedge alternative!).

➤ Small-space solutions: How to fit fruit trees into suburban yards.

➤ Bare-root basics: What you need to know about ordering and planting.

➤ The "tough-as-nails" apple that thrives in Zone 2 and beyond.

➤ A new Quebec-bred apple that is cold-hardy, delicious, and stores incredibly well. 🍎 (Ó:iase)

Whether you want a single apple tree, a productive backyard orchard, an edible landscape, or a hedge that feeds your family, this episode will inspire you to start planting, even in the coldest regions !

The world can feel a little crazy sometimes, can't it? 🌍

When things feel out of control, Max found his answer in something simple: planting trees.

It’s about more than just a harvest. It’s about building food security, sharing meals with family, and growing enough to do some good for the people around him. 💚

What do you think of this vision?

Veggies, fruit, and eggs. All real food, grown right here!
This is Max, and this is a glimpse of our everyday life. 🙂

We believe self-sufficiency shouldn’t be complicated.
That’s why, here at Hardy Fruit Tree Nursery, we propagate hardy, disease-resistant trees that are easy to grow and thrive even in tough climates, so more people can grow their own food at home, simply.

If we can do it here, you can do it too!

In December, we announced that we had trees with imperfections available to give to organizations. The Zone 4 bundle has already been claimed, and we were thrilled by the overwhelming response, with so many inspiring and generous projects! Thank you! 🙂

We now have a Zone 3 bundle available, but in order to make more people happy, we’ve decided to split it into 4 smaller bundles. 🥳

Each bundle contains at least 2 apple trees, 3 pear trees, 3 plum trees, 1 wild blackberry, 2 willows (basket and/or weeping willows), and 1 elderberry. 🍎🍐🍏

If you’re a community organization, a non-profit organization, or working on a socially-focused project, and these trees could benefit your community, we’d love to hear from you!

These trees have imperfections such as underdeveloped roots, slightly crooked trunks, minor bark damage, broken root tips, or trunks cut above the graft... In short, they’re not perfect and are unsellable for us, but they are full of life and potential if given a chance.😇😇😇

Comment on this post, and we’ll choose where these beautiful bundles will go by the end of February. The trees will be shipped in May. Please note that the trees are free, but you must either pick them up from the nursery or cover the shipping costs.😉
