This is the growing mix I used last year as it was much more affordable than any other options. I believe we used 6 of these - they were huge and went a long way to meet all of our gardening needs. Also, try checking with your local landfill to see if they have compost available for purchase to add to your gardens in the spring.

Not all seeds are created equal...
If you're thinking about starting your own plants this year, you'll want to do this within about 5 weeks. I generally plant my seeds around the 2nd to 3rd week of February. Also, I found this post that lists a number of Canadian seed companies you can order from:
