Ok plant friends, see how we took this sad, bare wall to showcasing a few of my favourite plants! 🌱

The hardest part was selecting plants that were short enough to fit in between the shelves and whom could also tolerate this light level. It’ll be a test of time to see how they fare!

Dear friends, I’ve made the difficult decision to close Fat Plant Farm’s retail doors permanently at the end of December.

We are incredibly grateful to have had the opportunity to share our passion for plants since February of 2016 and feel honored to have been apart of so many people’s plant journeys over the years. 🌱

Thank you to our customers, who feel more like friends, for supporting this business and growing along side Fat Plant Farm over the past six and a half years.

Thank you to my team, Aja, Cassidy, Holly, Joey and Olivia for taking such great care of our plant community that we all came to love and learn from. I couldn’t have had asked more from you all. You’ll forever be Jet’s sarcastic-loving aunties. 🐶

Our decision to close is in response to how houseplant needs have evolved and changed. We were thrilled to see so many folks discover the benefits of nurturing houseplants over the plant boom throughout the pandemic, but as your homes filled with plants, so did the shelves of many other stores, reducing the need for our niche shop.

Being fueled by passion is the best way to make a living and my passion is houseplants. Exploring other avenues for Fat Plant Farm didn’t feel right even when it became clear our passion for plants wouldn’t be enough to sustain us.

I’m very much proud of what Fat Plant Farm has grown to be. It allowed me to build relationships with people I might not have ever crossed paths with and to give back to our community in bigger ways than I ever could have as an individual. A business owner was never something I dreamt of in my wildest dreams. All I knew when it came to operating a business was how to share my love for plants.

It’s with sadness that we wrap up the brick and mortar part of Fat Plant Farm. The New Year may offer off site concrete classes, houseplant consultations and other ideas I dream up.

Throughout the month of December, please stop by to shop, visit and say goodbye to our fantastic team. My family, team and I would so appreciate your support one last time. 💚

Curious if you can keep houseplants on windowsills throughout winter? Kait shows you her home set up and how she continues to care for plants as close to windows as possible.

Houseplant Shop in Regina shared a post on Instagram: "Should you remove plants from a windowsill and in general move your plants farther back from windows in the winter? It depends. If you have cold drafty windows, more sensitive tropical plants will definitely suffer. If they are well insulated an...

The Soil Sleuth is back in stock.

It’s what every plant parent needs to remove the guess work from watering your houseplants. 💧

The soil sleuth takes five soil samples a different depths to help you determine if it’s time to water.

It’s also a handy tool to aerate your soil. As peat moss based soil mixes become compacted over time, aerating your soil helps deliver oxygen down to the roots. It’ll assist in the absorption of water as compacted soil tends to become hydrophobic.

More plants are killed out of kindness and uncertainty and this tool will help curb that!

This will be the last batch ordered in before the New Year. Add it to the stocking of a plant lover this holiday season.

You woke up today and you’re like “man I could really go for a funky, chunky succulent!”

Today’s your lucky day!

Meet Crassula moonglow. A drought tolerant succulent, with thick, stacked leaves that are irresistible to the eyes! 😍

Ok here comes the fun part!

Now that you’ve made your own concrete works of art, how are you going to style them?

Are you keeping them for yourself or gifting them this holiday season? How cool would it be to say “I made that! With love!” 🤓

The concrete tray may be used as a coaster, a catch all dish for jewellery, change, keys, what have you!

The concrete planters can display plants (of course), organize your stationary items, hold makeup brushes. Whatever your heart desires!

We will be hosting more public classes and we already have some private classes on the go!

Have you noticed when new leaves emerge they can be a different colour from the older, more mature leaves?

It’s definitely easy to spot new leaves on this Monstera deliciosa. They’ve got that shiny new car look!

New leaves are thinner, allowing more light to shine through. As they continue to develop, they’ll produce additional pigments that darken up the leaves.

If you need a little time out from your day, take a moment to be present with your plants and see if anyone has new leaves on the go!

What we are all about!

Fat Plant Farm designs modern concrete planters outfitted with vibrant, prairie-grown succulents. Fat Plant Farm encourages you to bring the outdoors in by filling your windowsills with all sorts of succers and pricks!

It began in the garage and the dining room table in January 2016. Casting, sanding and sealing concrete pots, potting them up with succulents and popping up around Regina at local markets and businesses. This little business has grown and so did our need for more space. Fat Plant Farm’s concrete studio and plant shop is now located at 1817 McAra Street. Our Google page will be updated regularly with our plant shop hours.

Custom ordered planters will only be available empty/ without plants for you to pot up with plants of your choosing. Head to www.fatplantfarm.com for more information on planters; pricing/sizing. As each planter is individually handcrafted, irregularities due to the nature of concrete are natural – ensuring your piece is truly unique and one of a kind!
