This weeks big job. Last week a good customer called for a service call due to a leaking toilet. Upon arrival she mentioned that the bath tub had also had water in it. We traced the line back to the exterior wall and checked the clean out. The length of pipe was full of waste. We traced out the septic tank which was over flowing. Some simple tests once the tank was pumped showed that the bed was no longer accepting effluent. We installed a new 4500l tank and leech feild. Thanks to Philips Septic, Babcock Supply and Union Pipe for helping with the fast turnaround to get the customers back up and flushing in no time.

Another failed septic bed. Called out for a backing up toilet into the tub and found the line out to the tank was full. Dug up the tank and it was over flowing. Had the tank pumped and found the outlet was plugged. Cleaned that stoppage and and it still wasn’t taking the effluent. So dug it back and found the bad consisted of a mix of material. A whole new septic system will be put in next week.

Another raised bed septic system installed. This system had a couple other attempts to make it work. Neither one worked. We decided to put a raised bed in well above the high water table. The job finished up nice.

Got started on the Hydro Service at the new Adult Activity Center around the rain drops this week. Had to remove a bit more of the sidewalk and dig around some utilities but then it was clear sailing.

Having trouble with getting sub soil, or sump drainage away from a building? We can help with that. This house had a perforated “big O” tile that was completely full of cedar roots. We ripped out all the old tile. Put in SDR sewer pipe and built a mini bed for the water to discharge through. Then the graded the area so water sheds towards the municipal drain. Even had to bring in a skidsteer for this one. @ Erieau, Ontario

Today’s big job was repairing a ditch bank that was eroding with every storm. The field also had a large wet spot from a old failed clay tile so we ran a main trunk and three branches of tile. Then the eroded area was filled with Gabion Stone. This should help the wet area drain and prevent the loss of crop. @ Ridgetown, Ontario

A couple recent water service jobs. The second picture is the root that grew right around the curb stop and caused the valve to be stuck in the on position, so if there was an issue there’d be no way to turn off the water.

This job just shows how a simple job can turn hard in the blink of an eye. It went from a leak in the main waterline as it entered the house to a complete new service. The line that was there was shared with the neighbour and the township wanted it re done from the main. So we dug down to the main and the municipal guys did the tap. Then we had to cut a 50 year old asphalt driveway. Once we stated back filling the driveway kept crumpling under our feet so the client elected to have us tear the remaining asphalt out since she’s waiting to have it replaced anyway. All in all it turned out good and the customer is happy. We will be closed to enjoy the long weekend!

Recent septic weeping bed replacing a illegal 60 year old weeping tank. The old system was full of roots. Tight job site restricted the size of the system. We elected to use both the infiltration chambers aswell as perforated tile to offer some protection due to the trees in the provincial park.

More pictures from the failed Septic Tank under the cottage. The top had spots where the poured in place lid was less than 1/2” thick. How this tank was constructed is it was framed up on site with lumber and poured by hand most likely. The first picture you can see the lumber in the bottom of the tank. Second picture is where the 2x4 for the lid were. The tank has most likely never been pumped or inspected. Luckily the customer could smell the problem before it caved in on them.
