I have to share this because I am still not over it.
We are knee deep in home renovations right now, I was completely out of breath, and the lighting situation was — well, you can see the window reflections — but none of that mattered because look at what I found at a small town thrift store near home.
A vintage tapestry, possibly antique, beautifully framed in this warm wooden frame that compliments it perfectly. No writing on the back, no stamps, no way to date it exactly — but it is absolutely gorgeous and it found its way to me, so I think that says enough.( I have yet to dive in deep to research this tapestry)
I have wanted a vintage tapestry piece like this for our home for such a long time. Honestly, I had kind of given up on finding it locally. We thrift small town stores in BC and while I love them, they are not exactly overflowing with antiques all the time. Finding this here felt unreal.
I paid a little more than I typically would at a thrift, but I had zero hesitation. These community thrift stores do so much good locally — spending a little extra there never feels bad.
This piece is not going anywhere. It has a home now and will be front and center on my living room wall for all to see and appreciate.
But the whole point of sharing this is to say — please do not count out your local thrift stores no matter where you live. You could walk in on any given day and find something that completely shocks you. I am living proof of that.
