Introducing... my lil Kenmore sewing machine. She don't look too pretty, eh? I bought my lil Kenmore back in 2001 and this baby will not quit. This machine has had coffee spilt on it, fallen out the back of cars, been dropped, painted on, you name it! But still continues to go on.
Just wanted to take a minute to thank all those who have supported my lil business over the years. I have officially closed doors in Canada however, will be reopening shortly in Australia. I really love the name so I will keep it however, I think the branding may be a little different. Instead of just upholstery and furniture refinishing I would like to include the sale of products - all with a recycling, refinishing, repurposing angle - as per my business motto.
I feel that it is everyone’s responsibility to take care of the environment and I am so glad that I have had so many amazing clients over the years that have felt the same way. I have really enjoyed getting to know your stories and have had the chance to collaborate with many of you.
Just a word on artisan-type small businesses… please, please, pleaaaaase support them! You betcha they are more expensive but there is a reason for that. I can’t count how many times I’ve provided a quote to be told “I can buy a new couch for way less than that!”. To custom make a slipcover for a couch takes approx. 20 hours. These small businesses work with quality products & go above & beyond to ensure their clients have a timeless, quality product &/or service. Their reputation is on the line so they want to ensure each & every client is taken care of.
I invite you to continue to follow my page to see where Studio Wombat goes from here & I would LOVE to hear from you all once in a while.
On a side note to those who live in Saskatchewan, it is 30+ degrees here today :) Ok, that was nasty! ;)
Take care of you… x
