The biggest risk in a build usually isn't the design itself. It's what happens to it once construction starts and nobody from design is still around.

Interior Design, our Signature service, hands you a complete plan to run yourself. Design Integrated Construction is Full Service, and it's what we always recommend. We stay through the entire build so the design doesn't get lost, and when something gets uncovered mid project, which happens on every project, we're the ones solving it, in a way that protects what was originally designed.

If you’ve driven past our door on Wall Street and wondered what we actually do inside, the short version is that three distinct services usually handled by separate companies all live under one roof.

The Design Side: Our team draws the plans and figures out exactly how your room will look and function.

The Construction Management Side: We schedule the trades and manage the job site from start to finish.

The Retail Side: We help you select and order everything from cabinets and flooring to lighting, plumbing, and furniture.

We hand-select product lines across entry, middle, and premium price points so everything you need is in one place.

This combination is completely unique to the Saskatchewan market, offering you a seamless, high-end experience. Plans, coordination, and installation come together to complete your project with style, eloquence, and a guaranteed outcome.

There's a particular kind of tired that comes from a kitchen you've been meaning to deal with for years, and if you're standing in yours right now thinking about the cooler season coming and the holidays, we understand that feeling completely.

We're also watching costs move here faster than in most Canadian cities. Statistics Canada's Building Construction Price Index for the second quarter of 2026 put Saskatoon residential construction costs up 2.0% in a single quarter, against a national average of 0.5%, and put Saskatoon non-residential up 2.1% - which was the second largest quarterly increase of the fifteen metropolitan areas they track. In our work, we are seeing increases every day, so starting is better than not starting at this point, as deciding earlier tends to cost less than deciding later.

By aligning with preferred trades and suppliers, we can help you to align your project with quality and confidence, while guiding you on realistic outcomes.

One of the most common calls we get starts with "I want to renovate — can you give me a quote?"

And the honest answer is: not yet.

Before we can quote design fees, make recommendations, or map out the best path forward, we need to actually see your space. That's where the project discovery comes in. The first time a Metric designer steps into your space in person, we measure and verify it ourselves, scan it, photograph it, and take time to understand how it actually functions and what you're genuinely trying to achieve. What you described over the phone is a starting point. What we find in the space is what shapes everything after.

It's not an extra step. It's the step that makes everything else possible.

People assume the hardest part of a renovation is choosing things. It isn't. The hardest part is holding a hundred decisions in the right order while twelve other people work on your house.

That's the part our team actually does. We act as your representative, which means we hold the budget, the sequence and the standard on your side of the table. When a substitution gets proposed or a date starts to slip, we're the ones who catch it, because catching it is the job.

It's also why we coordinate builds through Metric rather than handing you a list of materials for you to figure out. You shouldn't have to assemble a team of strangers and hope the pieces fit together. We bring partners we've worked alongside for years, who know what our drawings mean and what standard the work is held to. Aligning you with the right people is as much of the service as the design is.

That's Full Service. One team from the first sketch to the last cushion placed, through concept, drawings, procurement, the site and the finish. You make the decisions that genuinely matter to you, and you don't carry the rest of it.

If that's the kind of project you're planning, email Emilie at [email protected]. The first call is complimentary and takes fifteen minutes.

If you've been putting off your home upgrades for a few years because you don't know where to start. And part of the reason is a quiet feeling that designers are for other people; we'd like to talk to you about that.

We hear it in almost every first conversation, and it's usually not said out loud. It comes out as something like "We're not really the kind of people who hire a designer", or " Our house isn't grand enough for that". The thing is, most of the people we work with aren't asking us for extravagant. They're asking for a kitchen that works when you're hosting or just trying to get the family fed quickly, a bathroom that touches that bit of zen feeling and will still look right in fifteen years, and finishes that hold up to a busy family and a Saskatchewan winter. That's the middle of the road; that's most of what we do.

A lot of people decide they can't afford interior design before they've asked what it costs, but the better question might be, what does it cost not to include design? When you are creating your forever home, you are making hundreds of tiny decisions that you don't have time for. Most people are uneducated on design principles and materials to make those decisions - they get made in a rush, causing mistakes and rework. Plus, project delays cost you major inconvenience: rent somewhere else, your time, your money, and you have to live with however it all comes out in the end, forever.

Now consider the opposite - you have someone creating something personal - just for you, for how you live, for a space that you love to be in, that functions, that cleans well, has the right lighting in the right places, done right for you, the first time. Plus, designers can usually access better pricing, have preferred trade relationships to get you a quicker and better result, and fewer mistakes and rework save you money, time, and delays. When you think about it, hiring a designer can actually cost you very little in comparison, and you get the result that you dreamed of, to enjoy forever.

If you'd like to know what the first step looks like, phone the studio, or send a note to [email protected] and we can start the discussion. If the timing isn't right, that's completely fine, and we'll be here when it is.

The best time to start is the moment you decide you’re serious about it.

Most whole-home projects we take on have already lived in a client’s mind for six months before they call. The clients who wish they had started sooner are usually the ones who waited until the timeline felt urgent.

Backed by 25 years of expertise, since 2011 Tamara Bowman has flag shipped Metric Design locally in the heart of Saskatoon and brings global interior design and construction standards to the Prairies but even the best process requires time:

Interior design: three to six months
Procurement planning: three to six weeks
Construction: typically four to eight months

There is no shortcut through that work. The advantage is beginning early enough to do it properly. Every phase requires pattern recognition, decision-decisions, coordinated documentation, confirmed selections and trade scheduling.

Our spring 2027 planning window is filling, and we are excited to announce several new custom builds already taking shape. If a whole-home renovation, new build or major improvement is on your horizon, now is the time to begin the conversation.

For commercial clients, the same principle applies. Tenant-improvement and asset-modernization projects must account for design development, engineering, permits, procurement and construction scheduling. If your space needs to perform this winter ...or you are targeting a spring or summer 2027 opening the planning should already be underway.

Your project is not waiting for you to feel completely ready. It is waiting for you to begin.

We help you create the plan, understand the timeline and move forward with confidence.

Your first conversation with us is complimentary. Ask to speak with Tamara or Émilie today.
