🌸 Oasis Plant Tip of the Day – May 8, 2026

If you haven’t decided what you’re planting yet—this is your moment to sit down and map it out clearly. 🌿

Before anything goes into the ground as its too cold yet, take a few minutes and write your list of plants. Not just what you like—but what you actually want growing in your space this season.

Start breaking it down into simple groups:
• Edible plants – vegetables, herbs, anything you want to harvest
• Ornamental plants – flowers, fillers, visual interest
• Shrubs – structure, privacy, long-term placement
• Nursery trees (potted) – future growth, shade, anchors in your space

Then take it one step further and ask:
• Which of these will need support? (stakes, cages, trellis)
• Which can be direct sown vs brought in as plants?
• Which are better suited for containers vs in-ground?

This step saves you from overbuying, overcrowding, and planting things in the wrong place later on. It turns ideas into a plan you can actually follow.

You don’t need it perfect—you just need it started!
If you’d like help building your plant list, sourcing what you need, or making sure everything fits your space properly, I offer plant sourcing, Green Space Planning, and garden companionship sessions to work through it with you!

🌸 Oasis Plant Tip of the Day – May 7, 2026

There’s a pull right now to start planting—and some spots might even look ready—but this is where a little patience goes a long way. 🌿

Take a look at your overnight temperatures before you commit anything to the ground. Warm days can be misleading if nights are still dipping low.

Instead, use today to ease plants into their new environment:
• bring seedlings or other plants outside that are intended for outside growing this season for short periods during 15 degrees or higher days
• keep them in sheltered, low-wind areas
• gradually increase their exposure over the next few days
This step helps them adjust to real conditions—sun, wind, temperature swings—so when it’s time to plant, they’re actually ready for it.

Out in the yard, you can keep working with your space—placing pots where you’re thinking of planting, getting a feel for layout, and noticing how light moves through the day.

If you’d like help timing your planting, choosing the right plants, or getting everything set up properly, I offer plant sourcing, planting guidance, and garden companionship sessions to work through it with you.

🌸 Oasis Plant Tip of the Day – May 6, 2026

Inside your home, things are starting to pick up speed. 🌱

You may notice your plants needing water more often, pushing new growth, or simply looking more active overall. This is that shift into the growing season—and it starts at the root level.
Take a moment to check your soil.

Does it still feel light and breathable?
Or is it compact, drying unevenly, or holding too much moisture?
At this stage, soil structure makes all the difference.

My Oasis Premium Tropical Blend is built to support this exact phase—combining a base soil enriched with beneficial microbes and mycorrhizae to support root development, coco coir for balanced moisture retention, fine and medium Douglas Fir bark for airflow and structure, additional perlite for drainage, worm castings for natural nutrients, pumice for added mineral support, and activated charcoal to help keep the soil fresh and balanced.

Together, these create a living, breathable environment that supports steady, healthy growth—well beyond what basic potting soil can offer. I also offer custom soil blends tailored to different plant types and needs.

If you’re noticing your plants starting to push and you’re not sure if their soil can keep up, I can guide you through soil refresh, repotting, or plant care support so everything continues moving in the right direction.

🌿 Book a session and let’s support your plants from the roots up as the season builds.

🌸 Oasis Plant Tip of the Day – May 5, 2026

Step outside today and you’ll feel it right away—the yard has shifted. 🌿

The ground is lighter under your feet, the snow is gone, and everything is starting to respond to the warmth. This is where your space begins to show you what it’s ready for.

As you move through your yard, notice the differences:
• where things dried out quickly
• where the ground still feels a bit soft
• where warmth is hitting strongest
This is how you start understanding where planting will actually work. Not everything will be ready at the same time, and that’s okay!

You can keep gently working through your space—clearing what’s left, setting aside your nursery pots and materials, and starting to place things with a bit more intention as you go. Nothing forced, just moving with what your yard is giving you.

Inside, your plants are moving with that same energy. You may notice faster drying soil and fresh growth starting to push through—just a reminder to stay in tune with what they need as things pick up.

If you want help figuring out your planting areas, sourcing plants, or getting your soil ready for what’s coming next, I offer Green Space Planning, plant sourcing, and garden companionship sessions to work through it with you.

🌿 Book a session and let’s move into this next phase together—steady and set up right!

🌸 Oasis Plant Tip of the Day – May 4, 2026

There’s a steady warmth settling in now, and you can feel things starting to move—both outside and inside your space. 🌿

Out in the yard, this is a good day to start bringing things back together. Not heavy work—just gathering what’s been scattered over time.

Nursery pots, trays, tools, leftover materials… all the pieces that quietly build up and get pushed aside.

As you move through your space, start pulling those items into one area. Seeing everything together changes how you understand what you have—and what you actually need this season.

Inside, your plants are picking up speed too. You might notice them drying out faster or pushing new growth. This is a good moment to check in—nothing major, just making sure they’re supported as things start to move more quickly.

This time of year isn’t about rushing ahead—it’s about getting yourself and your space ready to move forward smoothly.

If you’d like help working through your yard, sorting materials, or checking in on your plants, I offer garden cleaning support, plant care, and garden companionship sessions so you don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

🌿 Book a session and let’s get everything moving in the right direction—together.

🌸 Oasis Plant Tip of the Day – April 19, 2026

With those warmer days approaching, this is your opportunity to get ahead by focusing on everything around planting—without planting yet.

Start preparing your containers, tools, and soil, and begin thinking about the plants you want to bring into your space this season—whether that’s building your outdoor garden areas or growing your indoor jungle.

For those who haven’t started seeding yet, this is still a completely appropriate time to begin planning and getting your setup ready. Starting now or soon still fits within the natural growing window for our region—what matters most is working with the season, not racing it!

Choosing plants with intention—based on your light, space, and conditions—sets you up for a much smoother and more successful season.

My soil blends are designed to support that success, enhancing drainage, airflow, moisture balance, and nutrient availability beyond what basic potting soil provides.

I also offer custom soil options tailored to different plant needs.

If you’d like help selecting plants, starting seeds, or getting everything ready step by step, I offer Plant Care & Maintenance, Green Space Planning, and garden companionship sessions to support you through it.

Stem Flexibility: Adapting to Environmental Shifts

🌱 Purpose
New spring stems bend, twist, and flex in response to wind, light, and gravity. This elasticity supports growth while preventing damage. Humans can relate — flexibility, adaptability, and resilience allow us to navigate challenges without breaking.

🌼 Reflection
Flexible stems illustrate the importance of being strong yet adaptable. Life requires both foundation and movement. Observing stem resilience encourages balance, adaptability, and graceful response to changing conditions.

🌸 Mindfulness
Gently touch or observe a flexible stem. Reflect: Where in my life do I need to strengthen yet remain adaptable to change?

How I Can Help You Grow:
🌿 Guided plant support & connection — hands-on learning about stem care and resilience
🌱 Plant wellness assessments — observing structural health and flexibility
🌼 Residential greenscape planning — designing plantings for support and resilience

🌸 Oasis Plant Tip of the Day – April 18, 2026

Saskatchewan spring is rarely a straight path—it moves in swings, pauses, and sudden shifts. One day feels like a shift toward warmth, and the next reminds you winter is still in the system.

These quick changes are a normal part of our climate and are important to pay attention to. Even when daytime temperatures rise above freezing, nighttime lows still pull everything back into freeze-thaw cycles, which keeps soil conditions unstable.

This is not a time to rush forward—it’s a time to observe the rhythm of the season and let timing unfold naturally. The plants that succeed here are the ones that move with these shifts, not against them.

If you’d like support understanding how to read these conditions and plan your next steps with confidence, I offer Green Space Planning and garden companionship sessions to guide you through the season as it unfolds.
