This piece is called โThe Elephant in the Roomโ ๐
I created this painting while taking a grieving workshop at ARCH Hospice. I started painting what my grief actually feels like, and out of that process, an elephant appeared on the canvas.
The elephant represents grief. Something large, heavy, present, and impossible to ignore.
๐ฃ The purple reflects the spiritual side of grief.
๐ก The yellow represents hope, because I believe there is always hope, even in loss.
My mother passed away three years ago, and I still miss her deeply. ๐
Through painting, I learned that when we give our emotions a shape, colour, and voice, healing can begin. ๐จโจ
๐ Somehow there was also a connection to Hindu tradition. Ganesha, the elephant god, is known as the remover of obstacles. For me, grief has been one of those obstacles, and Iโm proud to display him in my art. Itโs a reflection of how Iโm learning to move through grief by honouring it. ๐โจ
After taking a two year break from painting, I felt it was finally time to return to creating again. Thank you all for being part of that journey. โค๏ธ๐จ
