This Women in Construction Week, we’re proud to highlight the Co-Presidents of GNB Global, Marie Hunter and Lorraine Lamb.
Marie holds a Master’s in Marriage & Family Therapy, a foundation that sharpened her leadership skills, strengthened her ability to build high-performing teams, and confidently navigate complex challenges. She joined GNB during COVID and went on to lead the launch of our Canadian fabric plant — stepping into a major leadership challenge that helped shape the company’s growth.
Today, her days are filled with leadership meetings, 1:1 development, operational planning, HR strategy, and driving growth across Canada and the U.S. She thrives on constant change and is most proud of the people who’ve built what once felt almost impossible.
Her advice to women considering construction is to have grit, be direct, and ask questions over and over until you truly understand the problem. Questions build better solutions.
Lorraine brings 15+ years of finance and administration experience in construction. She once thought she’d be a lawyer because she likes fighting for what’s right — and found that same passion in accounting. Her days include team check-ins, financial approvals, payroll, vendors, strategy, and yes — the satisfaction of a perfect reconciliation. She’s most proud of how GNB has scaled while keeping a supportive, family-style culture.
Her advice to women considering construction is to not be deterred in a male-dominated industry. Put yourself out there. Your ideas and talents matter.
Together, their strengths balance — financial discipline, patience, team development, and different perspectives that lead to stronger decisions.
