On September 11th, 2023 the Peninsula Garden Club will be welcoming guest speaker Bernice Betts, and her topic will be Xeriscape Gardens: Less water, more joy, a healthier planet.
As summers get hotter and drier, Peninsula gardeners are pondering whether to continue with thirsty lawns and moisture-loving plants. Should we transform our gardens into “dry havens” filled with cheerful blooms, aromatic herbs, and happy pollinators? Bernice will share the story of xeriscaping a sizable area of her North Saanich property and discuss the key principles for xeriscaping success in West Coast gardens.

Our next meeting will be held on Monday, June 12 at 7 p.m. at the
home of a PGC member in Dean Park. Please contact [email protected] if you require the address. We will be learning new ideas and tips for creating easy floral arrangements for your home and patio. There will also be tips for conditioning flowers and plants to use in your arrangements. A free draw
will be held for the arrangements created by the speakers.
Please bring a plate of treats to share, a folding chair, and a hat. Guests are welcome. Tea and lemonade will be served. There will be a membership table available and some gardening books available for sale.
Please be advised that this is a WEATHER PERMITTING EVENT so check back on the 12th if you are unsure.

Thank you to everyone who donated plants, volunteered, or purchased plants at the PGC Spring Plant Sale yesterday. It was a busy day with many happy customers. Our first ever ‘Budding Gardeners’ kids tent was also a hit!

The PGC has a busy few days ahead!
The Spring Plant Sale is this Saturday, May 6th, from 10-noon in The Mary Winspear Parking Lot.
On Monday, May 8, come to the PGC meeting to hear Abigail Hyde from Satinflower Nurseries present on Meadowscaping with Wild Plants There will also be a Parlour Show, raffle, and refreshments. Guests - $5.00.
