Good afternoon, everyone! I have an update this afternoon as we get set for snow to make its return to Eastern Ontario. Yesterday I mentioned there were two different scenarios as to how today could go, and then I also mentioned I was hoping today would look more clear for which scenario it would be. Well, unfortunately it looks the same as last night.

The system should be coming into the region around Kingston in the middle of the afternoon today. It will then continue to advance to the east-northeast into the evening, eventually becoming somewhat widespread throughout the evening. Places along the St. Lawrence Seaway may experience more rain than snow.
We are still watching a temperature boundary later today to see how far north it wants to come this evening. But before that part, temperatures this afternoon will also play a part in this being a bit of a bust or this becoming a boom for some parts of the region. This afternoons temperature should be around 1-2 degrees for some of the region, and that temperature will need to drop upon arrival of the system if there is going to be anything of significance in the area.
As I said, it is still unclear how this is going to go. A very heavy band of snow kicking off that temperature boundary is still showing up on a couple of models, of which would then produce 10cm+ in a narrow swath. That swath is unknown right now due to the unpredictability of where the boundary of above 0 temperatures to below 0 temperatures is. Other models are showing a meager 5cm or less throughout the entire region.
This one might mean Tom and I will be live on Canadian Weather Live later today for some live snow coverage. Stay tuned for more updates this evening!
