I thought the name of this deciduous shrub fitting for today. 🇨🇦 The Miss Canada Lilac blooms in late spring. It grows up to 10 feet high with a 6 foot spread, and likes full sun🌞

I realize that it has been quite a while since I posted...I've been on a teeter-totter of balancing university and family and, and, and! But my final week of exams is here, and I'm excited to get back into garden design after that!🙂

Happy Flower Friday!
Amaranth has approximately 60 annual and perennial species. Here in Alberta it is considered an annual. The name of this cultivar is Love - lies - bleeding. Flowering in mid to late summer, the tiny red flowers are a beautiful contrast to the lime green leaves.

Happy Flower Friday!
Calendula is most commonly seen in flower varieties of red,orange and yellow, but can also be found in soft cream and pink shades. It has been used as a medicinal herb for centuries to heal wounds and inflammation,as well as to soothe irritated skin. I have used it for myself and for my family and have had great results😊

Happy Flower Friday!
The Morning Glory is an annual vine. Its buds are rolled up tightly and do not unfold until the morning sun shines on them....which is how they got their interesting name.
They attract hummingbirds and butterflies and have a subtle fragrance.

Happy Flower Friday!
Floristan White Blazing Stars are perennials that grow 32 inches high with a spread of 18 inches. They like full sun and bloom from mid summer to early fall.
They are also a lovely addition to a cut flower arrangement. 🙂

Delphiniums can grow 3 - 5 feet tall, are sun loving and attract bees and butterflies. They have tall sturdy stems that are perfect for a perennial garden or as a center piece in a cut flower arrangement.

Happy Flower Friday!
Lupine comes in a variety of colors ...white, yellow, purple, pink, red, blue and bicolor (like the 2nd photo shown here).
They bloom in spring and summer and grow 3- 4 feet tall. Lovely in an annual outdoor arrangement, as a cut flower or a perennial that can be enjoyed year after year!😊
