Alpha, Serratus, and Tantalus. Mesmerizing giants with jagged peaks and rumbling glaciers.

I started the first of these paintings (Tantalus) in the early days after my head injury when I could only dream of being in the mountains.

And dream I did.

Even following my brush strokes with my eye made me nauseous then , but I acclimatized quickly. Painting really helped soothe my soul during this time. We all need a purpose, we all need to feel growth. In this moment my growth and purpose were both small and monumental at the same time.

These paintings are special to me. And the place they depict equally so. It was both hard and exciting to let the originals go to a new home. But I could feel in my heart that they went to the right place 🩵🙂

The beautiful fall colours of black tusk 💛

It was on an early fall excursion out to Castle Towers that I turned around and saw the Black Tusk in all its glory from a new vantage point. I was enamoured by the colours and the blended, painterly texture at the foothills leading up to the tusk.

This year my friend Gabby won’t be in Canada to make more memories shredding in the backcountry with me (😭) because she and her partner have embarked on an exciting adventure together!

It was so fun to make this wedding gift for Jen and Patrick who tied the not this past September.

The painting captures them in Camp Bennett on the Chilkoot Trail! Along with their little red crabs that travel with them!

My process involves a little bit of Facebook creeping to know the clothing and equipment that the couple were wearing/using on their trip and some reference images of the chosen location! The wild colours are of course my own artistic liberties ☺️

Memories are extra special when friends and family live far away.

Feels like almost a decade ago my brother and I took a trip to Mt. Baker, taking our snowboards and Ontario stoke for the mountains!

My brother had a crash that day that he still feels in his spine today! Hopefully with the little twinge of pain is accompanied by a side of happy memories of shredding together.
