Ever wondered why some barrels carry that striking, deep-red "belly" or stripe around their center? 🍷

It isn’t just a design choice, it’s a time-honoured tradition rooted in the soul of the cellar.

The Story: 📖
Centuries ago, starting with the monks of Burgundy, winemakers began staining the middle of their barrels with a natural pigment made from red lees (the rich, natural sediment left after fermentation.

Why? Two main reason.
1. It cleverly hides wine drips from "topping off" the barrel, keeping the cellar looking pristine. 🎨
2. The Mark of Quality: It was often used to signal a vineyard's most premium vintage. 🌟

These unique red-centre barrels bring that same old-world elegance to your home or garden and are a true conversation starter. 🪵🏠

Some wine barrels have mixing staves on the inside, stained in beautiful shades from the wines they helped create. From deep reds, soft rosés, to whites. 🍇✨

Most people toss them when turning barrels into planters or furniture…
💡 But here’s a better idea for the creative types: turn them into art. 🎨🪵
