Part one 🍅

Here’s what we use to grow our tomatoes from soil up. In this section we’ll also talk about determinant tomato plants and how to grow them.

For determinant plants, we recommend leaving the suckers on and we’ll talk about why!

Make sure to follow along for part 2 where we talk more in depth about the differences between determinant and semi-determinant, and how to trim your indeterminate tomato plants! 🌱

Here is our bean bed update‼️

Our yellow and green bush beans are coming along nicely, and we're really happy with the germination. We aim for about 75–80 plants per row.

With rain in the forecast, we're also going to try using shredded leaves between the rows to help reduce soil splash-back during wet weather.☔️

We're excited to watch these plants continue to grow and are already looking forward to harvest time! 🌱

Pevensey Pete here with a bittersweet message:
We are officially sold out of our veggie plants! 🌱

We want to extend a huge thank you to everyone who came out and supported local this planting season. It truly means so much to us, and we’re grateful for each and every one of you.

On a sweeter note, if you’ve been unable to find pea seeds locally, come on down to Pevensey Pete’s before this Friday and pick up a few seeds, free of charge! 🫛
Growing a garden is really about community, and that means helping each other grow.

But this is NOT the end of our journey! We’ll be here all summer long sharing live updates, tips, and tricks to help your gardens thrive, so be sure to stay tuned.

Thanks so much Almaguin! 💚

Here’s a quick update on our hedge of peas! 🫛

They’re starting to come along nicely! If you’ve tried this method for growing peas, leave a picture in the comments, we’d love to see how yours are doing!

One of our favourite memories at Pevensey Pete’s is growing peas on our front porch and sitting outside as a family, shucking and eating them together. We want to share that experience with everyone, especially families with young gardeners.

And for gardeners working with a smaller space, all you need is a pot, a cage, and of course some seeds, and you’re good to go!
