We have been working very hard on repotting, roots pruning, and we have just set hoses and sprinklers for this years watering. We heard that it will get very warm this summer, so don’t forgot to water your trees! This plant here is one of the many Shimpaku Junipers we reported over the last week. We applied olive oil on the pot, and on the bark to give it a shiny look ✨ Come down and check our updated display with freshly repotted trees!

Hello bonsai lovers!

Todays photo is directly from Japan, and this is the Sensō-ji in Asakusa, Tokyo. This is one of Tokyo’s oldest temples and serves as a popular tourist attraction for many. Japan also announced that the cherry blossoms are in full bloom now, which makes them a beautiful sight in the spring. We wanted to share a little bit of our home country with you and enjoy the cherry blossoms along with us 🌸

Hello bonsai lovers!

Have you ever wondered what a baby bonsai looks like? Well look no further! These are baby Tsukumo Cypress, and as you can see, we keep them all together in a propagation tray and periodically water them all with a propagation water system. This process is very handy since we have a system in place to have everything automated, and we simply need to keep an eye on it. We are looking forward to having young Tsukumo Cypress trees joining our large green family! 🌳

Hello bonsai lovers!

Today's bonsai photo is the Tsukumo Cypress, also known as the Chamaecyparis Pisifera Intermedia. This tree is one of the three main trees in which we specialize in. This tree is doen is Saikei style (group planting). When Tak created the landscape for this group planting, he wanted to mimic the look of a real forest, and allow the viewers to imagine forest life such as deer that could be wandering between the trunks.

Hello bonsai lovers!

Today's photo will be highlighting one of our most beautiful trees in our display. This is the Larix kaempfri, also known as the Japanese Larch in Saikei (group planting). This is a deciduous conifer, meaning that the needles will fall in the wintertime to make room for new foliage.

This image was taken at the end of April last year, and as you can see, the foliage is a very fresh, light green color. As it gets warmer in the summer, the foliage will turn a darker green by a small amount. Just before winter, the needles turn brown as they prepare to fall off of the larch, in order to make room for new needles to grow for the next season. 🌲
