Think you've missed your chance to plant this year? Think again.
June isn't the end of gardening season, it's one of the best times to get growing.
Now is the perfect time to refresh containers and hanging baskets, fill gaps in your garden beds, and add annuals for colour that will last right through to frost.
For vegetable gardeners, the season is just getting started. Tomatoes, peppers, basil, zucchini, squash, and other heat-loving crops are ready to go in the ground. And if you're succession planting lettuce and other greens, you'll be enjoying fresh harvests well into late summer and fall.
Trees, shrubs, and perennials can still be planted too. Just be sure to mulch well and keep up with watering as they get established.
The one thing we'd hold off on? Moving established trees, shrubs, and perennials. Save that job for cooler weather.
So if you've been telling yourself you're too late to start gardening this year, consider this your sign. There's still plenty of growing season ahead.
