It is best to stay off your asphalt driveway at least 36 to 48 hours allowing the oil based emulation sealer to cure properly. Under normal conditions the area could be opened to foot traffic 12 to 16 hours after application.

Hope that we can all get out there and enjoy nice days like this. When you are cutting the grass and tending the garden also take a look at the pavement. See if could use some tender loving care and imagine how much nicer everything would look if your driveway had a shinny new coat of sealant!

The summer season is almost here! Its time to put away those big bulky jackets and snow boots and bust out the shorts, sunscreen and sunglasses!

How will you be protecting your driveway this summer?

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Now that it is the snowy season, you should be seeing the benefits that sealing your driveway can bring. I know I love how much easier it is to remove the snow and ice by shovel or snow blower.

A common question this time of year is about using salt and other ice removers. There is a lot of ambiguity about what is the best product not only for your driveway, but your lawn, pets and children as well.

Rock Salt (sodium chloride) is the one you are most familiar with. It is the cheapest de-icer generally available and works well for roads and sidewalks. However, it is toxic to plants and grass as well as harmful for pets. The City of Toronto does a good job of keeping our roads and sidewalks clear with this product, but it is not good for residential use.

A de-icer with a purely Calcium Chloride base is, in our opinion, the best choice. It is a much more environmentally-friendly product that will not destroy your well-kept lawn or hurt your dog's paws. Check your local home and hardware stores for a suitable product and do the right thing for your driveway.
