Stevens Burgess Architects Ltd. is pleased and excited to welcome Julia Rady PhD CAHP as our newest Partner. Julia’s work as the firm’s Historian and Cultural Heritage Specialist complements and supports the firm’s award-winning architectural design team. Since starting with SBA, Julia has been integral to the firm’s expanded specialization in cultural heritage resource management and expertise related to heritage planning and reporting.

Julia is looking forward to continuing to work with public and private clients to develop in principled heritage reporting, to find smart and pragmatic solutions to heritage-related concerns, and to serve as a steward of heritage resources with a focus on creative approaches to build the future while honouring the past.

Excavation is complete at the Ontario Line station at King and Bathurst!

This marks a major milestone in the province’s plan to protect Ontario by bringing 27,000 people within walking distance of fast, reliable transit and closer to more jobs and opportunities across the GTA.

As 2025 quickly draws to a close, we are deeply grateful for all that the year has brought to the firm: great projects, new opportunities, and continued engagement working in an industry that is never boring.....

Working in heritage is anything but living in the past. It is a dynamic and creative act to conserve with sensitivity, to look to a sustainable way forward, and to reimagine the past in designs that celebrate our shared history, amplify stories not yet told,
and provide a bridge between the past and the future.

We look forward to seeing what 2026 has to offer and working with colleagues and clients alike. But for now, it is time for a short winter’s rest. Our office will be closed between December 24th at noon and January 2nd.

SBA is honoured to have won the CAHP 2025 Award of Merit in the category of Small and Lovely for its project: Modifications to the Existing Pedestrian Bridge at Battlefield National Historic Site. It was a tremendous team effort to reimagine this key connection point while respecting and using heritage principles without impacting the surrounding landscape.
