Open to all those who hold status with the Association, this program showcases the hand-drawn creativity and architectural vision within the profession. Important Update on Impacts from OAA Database Upgrades Next Month

In late July, upgrades to the OAA's database management software will improve security and user experience. This migration process is a major undertaking that requires some services—including access to registrations, applications, and online functions of internship programs—to be paused from the evening of Monday, July 20, for at least 10 business days.

Last Chance to Complete Your ConEd Transcript Before the Cycle Ends

The deadline for the 2024–2026 Continuing Education cycle is Tuesday, June 30. This is the last opportunity for Architects and Licensed Technologists to record their required Unstructured and Structured Learning hours, including the mandatory Climate Action prerequisite. Members otherwise may face administrative suspension and a $750 fee.

Public Review of 2025 National Model Codes

Earlier this spring, the Canadian Board for Harmonized Construction Codes (CBHCC) launched a public review of proposed changes to the 2025 National Model Codes, with comments accepted until Monday, June 22. A preliminary review identified approximately 15 updates covering accessibility, sprinklers, house energy efficiency, fire protection, modular construction, plumbing, airtightness, HVAC, and drainage systems.

The OAA’s governing Council will hold its next meeting on June 25. Comprising elected members and appointed public representatives, Council helps guide the Association’s direction and decisions. ExAC Registration Now Open

Registration for this fall’s Examination for Architects in Canada (ExAC) is open and closes at noon local time on until July 10. Intern Architects must ensure their completed submission to the Canadian Experience Record Book (CERB)—recorded, reviewed, and signed/certified by both Supervising Architect and Mentor—is received by June 30. The 2026 sitting of the exam takes place on November 2 and 3.

Any Intern who needs accommodation at the examination must obtain prior approval from their licensing authority. This can be indicated on the ExAC Registration Form and by submitting a completed Accommodation Request form found on the ExAC website. Questions about registration can be sent to Jon Clark, ExAC administrator, at [email protected]. Questions about experience submissions should be sent to [email protected].
