Nature is a constant source of inspiration, so it was important to us that our Circuit design evokes a feeling of being outdoors, even while in the middle of a city. We worked with to bring our vision to life by creating 12 unique living walls throughout the spa.

The walls feature over 60 unique plants, which grow vertically in nature, here in the Pacific Northwest. You’ll notice Maidenhair Fern, Wild Ginger, Bleeding Heart Fern, and Creeping Raspberry, to name a few. The structure of the wall is created using only locally sourced and recyclable materials, and a gentle irrigation system keeps the plants watered without wasting a drop.

To us, the living walls ground the whole Circuit experience, and we deeply appreciate the dedication put into designing and maintaining these odes to the forest 🙏

Always looking to push the limits of living wall design, Green over Grey is thrilled to be part of Brivia’s Curv presentation centre.

With a height of 60 stories, Curv will be both the tallest passive house in the world and Vancouver’s tallest residential tower.

Seamlessly blending eco-consciousness with luxury design, Curv sets a new standard for development in the city. For the presentation centre, we designed and built a fully custom, freestanding living wall with a unique curved shape. Echoing the lines of the building, the wall welcomes visitors with a green embrace.

CBC radio Live show took place this morning in front of living wall at Edmonton International Airport.
11 years already since installation!

Edmonton International Airport’s freshest piece of art is the largest Living Wall inside any airport terminal in the world.

Inspired by Cirrus cloud formations and two abstracts paintings by Canadian artists from the Group of Seven and Emilie Carr.

It features over 8,000 individual plants representing 32 unique species.

Built with recycled materials, it adds lots of oxygen to the terminal while drawing pollutants and VOC’s from the air.

The system is fully hydroponic (ie soil less) and closely mimics how plants grow vertically in nature such as on tree branches, next to a waterfall, on a moss layered cliff.

Date completed : May 2012

RIBBONS OF GREEN

Enveloping visitors in layers of green, guiding the public through a series of lush, living archways. Landscape design, though usually an example of passive design, should not be experienced passively. Instead, it should be an immersive experience; inviting and seducing site users to become part of the space.

Beginning from the base, the living wall design starts as individual planting zones, or bands of ribbon, which can be seen spiraling up around the archway pillars, intertwining into a woven blend of tropical species, as it transitions across the arches.

In celebration of the BC Home & Garden Show, 'Ribbons of Green' celebrates the convergence of people to a central space, like individual threads in a tapestry, woven together for their love of plants and nature.

This feature is the perfect spot to snap a photo and enjoy the intricate details of these vertical garden archways. Showgoers can find this living display at the entrance at Gate A – you won’t miss it!

Looking for a break from the Vancouver rain? Come check out the incredible new atrium that is a part of Vancouver Centre Complex.

The atrium is host to 26-foot living plant walls by and a mind-blowing art installation called Spawn from local Vancouver legend !

Spawn is a 30-foot stainless steel salmon that swims through the air above VCII’s atrium. Coupland says, “mythologically, fish represent the soul. What is Vancouver’s soul? We are lucky to live in the city we do, but it’s a privilege, not a right to be here. Part of that privilege is a pact between us and nature - that we nurture it alongside our metropolitan lives, and that we never think of ourselves as being the more important side of the equation.”
