Being a woman in the trades carries a weight most people never see...
The messy job sites, the lack of organization, the comments, the judgments. It's not something we often talk about. I don’t share this to put anyone down, but because lived experience shapes how I show up… and why I choose to do things differently.
Five years ago, I started my painting and small renovation business with one clear intention: to bring care, professionalism, and heart back into people’s homes. What I didn’t realize was how much backbone it would take to stay strong, independent, and rooted in integrity,,, and yet, here I am, still standing, still growing.
For me, painting isn’t just about color on walls. It’s about transforming a space so it actually feels good to live in. It's not only the meditative practice that comes with holding a brush in my hand, but it's also the greatest pleasure seeing someone enjoy their space again.
It’s about walking into your home and feeling calmer, lighter, and more inspired. It’s about knowing the work was done with attention, respect, and genuine care, not rushed, not sloppy, and never treated like “just another job.”
I also teach yoga, fitness, and nutrition because I believe our environment matters just as much as how we care for our bodies. While that work fuels my soul, this business provides the steady foundation that supports my household and keeps my dreams moving forward. And I don’t say I have to do this,,, I get to.
I get to show up every day for my clients, my family, and myself. I get to pour love into the homes I work in. I get to help people refresh their space, whether that’s painting cabinets for a whole new look, updating walls, or creating a home that finally feels aligned with who they are now.
After years of criticism, scrutiny, and unprofessional comments, I’m still here, five years strong, continuing to move forward with resilience, grace, and purpose.
