Cycas revoluta, also known as Japanese sago or Japanese cycas, is a plant native to the Nansei and Ryukyu islands in Japan, and to southeastern China. Japanese sago is a palm-like plant, generally between 1 and 3 m tall, but more rarely reaching 6 m in height. It is a long-lived plant, and one of the most widely cultivated Cycas.

The Japanese sago is a plant that looks like a palm tree or tree fern. It is relatively cold-hardy and can withstand brief frosts of around -8°C, or even -10°C in good dry conditions.

Yucca rostrata is a yucca with thin, blue, supple leaves, which is always appreciated if it has to be planted near a busy area. Native to northern Mexico and West Texas, this slow-growing yucca can reach heights of up to 5 m on several trunks with age.
Yucca rostrata is one of the most cold-hardy of the trunk yuccas, withstanding frosts of -18°C to -20°C or even colder. It is also a plant with great drought-resistance capacities.

Serenoa repens (Silver Sae Palmetto):

Serenoa repens is a small, slow-growing palm with a clumping habit and usually a creeping habit, not exceeding 2 m to 2.5 m with age. It is native to the subtropical zone of Central America, including Mexico and various states in the southern USA, such as Georgia and Texas, and especially Florida, which has earned it the vernacular name of Florida palm.
There are two types of Serenoa, one with green foliage that is more hardy: it can withstand short, dry frosts of around -15°C, while the glaucous variety can withstand -9°C or even -12°C.

Sabal Minor (Dwarf Palmetto):

Sabal minor is a small palm that some consider acaule, as it takes a relatively long time to develop a stipe. However, it is not acaule, as some older specimens can develop a stipe of up to 2m. This palm, native to the southeastern United States, is highly resistant to the cold, withstanding frosts of around -18°C.

Rhapidophyllum Hystrix (Needle palm):

Rhapidophyllum hystrix is native to shady, humid forest areas in the southeastern United States. It is a slow-growing, cespitose palm with palmate leaves, reaching 2 m to 2.50 m with age.

R. hystrix is reminiscent of Trachycarpus, both in appearance and cold hardiness. It's a very interesting palm for the palmophile living in regions with very cool winters, since this palm can be tried in USDA zone 6a and beyond, which is a record for a palm. It will withstand very severe winter frosts of around -15°C to -20°C, and some specimens are even said to have been able to withstand lower winter temperatures.
