Our work bridges the past and present, ensuring that historic landmarks remain vital contributors to their communities. Our experienced team has successfully delivered a wide range of projects as consultants, prime contractors, and subcontractors. Notable restorations include Fort Rodd Hill, Christ Church Cathedral & School, 120 Douglas School, and Morden Mine Colliery, each reflecting our commitment to preserving the integrity and cultural significance of historic sites across the country. In addition to our heritage work, we also offer expert residential masonry services, applying the same level of craftsmanship, precision, and respect for materials to homes and private projects. Built in 1981, the Gate of Harmonious Interest was created to represent harmony between the City of Victoria and the Chinatown community.

We were honoured to work with the City of Victoria on the restoration of the gate's roof, addressing deterioration and helping secure the structure for the years ahead.

One of the more interesting aspects of the project was the roof itself. The design was unique, as every tile needed to be physically tied to the main structure, which required careful planning and problem solving throughout the restoration process

To complete the work while minimizing disruption, a custom scaffold system was designed to bridge the roadway, allowing traffic to remain open in both directions for most of the project.

Thank you to the City of Victoria for the opportunity to contribute to the restoration of this important Chinatown landmark.

Did you catch us on the news last night? 👀

Here's a behind-the-scenes look at our co-owner, Liam Hall, being interviewed by CHEK News to discuss the discovery, the masonry work involved, and what these historic structures can tell us about Victoria's past.

Our restoration work on the historic Wharf Street retaining wall sparked a city-wide conversation about the legendary underground tunnels beneath Victoria.

While the "secret tunnel network" may be more myth than reality, the carved stone rosettes uncovered during the project are very real—and a fascinating reminder of how much history remains hidden beneath our city.

Not every day a masonry project makes the evening news, but then again, not every day you uncover a piece of Victoria's past. 🧱✨

Thanks to CHEK News for helping tell the story, and to everyone who followed along.

Our trade is tough. Trades de France began as our way of taking care of our own.

While camaraderie on the job site has always been strong, we wanted to do more to support our team’s wellness. Our first idea was a good concept, but not the right fit for everyone. We needed something bigger.

The real idea sparked during a conversation with friends at a local festival. By the end of the night, a name was chosen, another company was in, and a movement had begun.

In 4 years, that simple idea has grown into a community that’s raised over $30,000 for local charities.

The challenge is officially underway! Follow along with all the teams at and see our ‘why’ in action as they log their first kilometers for a great cause.

Everyone in Victoria has heard the stories about tunnels hidden beneath the city.

So when the Wharf Street retaining wall was opened during conservation work, we had to see for ourselves.

But what we found wasn’t what anyone expected.

Restoring a landmark that holds generations of meaning.

This past Lunar New Year, the Gates of Harmonious Interest stood vibrant once again. Cherry blossoms, rain-soaked streets, and a community coming together in celebration.

For Heritage Masonry, it’s a privilege to contribute to spaces with this kind of cultural and historical significance. Grateful to have played a role in preserving one of Victoria’s most iconic landmarks.

More to come on the work behind the scenes.

The finish is in the details.

On Island Road, every opening was completed with stonework to give the exterior a cohesive, built-in look that matches the quality of the cladding and hardscape.

Granite cladding, limestone flatwork, and disciplined installation executed on a sloped site where everything had to be walked in by hand.

Island Road was a full residential masonry renovation transforming a dated stucco exterior into a high end stone finish using Rocky Mountain Granite cladding and dolomitic limestone for capping and flatwork.

The site brought real constraints: a pie-shaped lot, sloped terrain, and limited access meant demolition and material handling were done by hand.

Custom stone detailing completed the finish, including stone jambs, sills, and headers at every door and window.
