PLAYING WITH SQUARES
Side by side Duplex renovation from a few years ago.
As I've been doing years of planning since 2020, with fairly little actually materializing (and those that materialized were ne er photographed, which, yes, is on me), I thought I go and dig out some project photos that actually came into fruition.
😀
There is a neighboring house very close by and privacy is an issue, therefore I introduced a high band of glazing, which playfully breaks up into square clerestory windows with a nod to the adjacent existing windows and ceiling design in the living area.
The clients weren't concerned about storage and gave me the heads up to introduce open and asymmetrical display areas.
I'm also quite font of the large scale 3D wave effect along the stairwell wall. We opened up the roof and installed 3 elongated skylights for natural light to flow down into the kitchen, and opened up the wall between kitchen and lower stairs to the basement.
The climatized wineroom was a bit of a technical feat- that is where teamwork with skilled and imaginative trades pays off.
