Hello everyone! Luna here, please forgive my lack of posts! 4 days after we concluded our growing season this year - I flew to Germany to complete a summer research internship in the medical sciences and I will be here till the end of August!

Costs are being tallied and donations will be sent to our amazing respective partner organizations early next week.

We thank you for your patience with this update, we received a total of 83 (🤯) orders this year - Vembu and I could not be any prouder. We are so very grateful for your support and pledge that the website of growing tips will be up soon as well!

In the meantime, please feel free to message us with any grow questions - our DM’s and email is always open!

Hi everyone, thanks for your continued support and selling out on some popular varieties our very first week of Summer 2022!

The site is currently facing some challenges and Vembu & I in the midst of third year university exams, but we are actively looking into patching this issue - if your order is not able to go through, please use the site to view what you would like to order and send us a screenshot and we will do manual entry from our side (no worries at all!). Thank you for bearing with us as we get this site all figured out, we hope it’s been a nice viewing experience otherwise! 😊

We have taken note that some varieties are out of stock, due to the numbers going into organization-bundles we sell, we only list what we can sprout (limited quantities) so that we do our best to fulfill everything that you order. More will be added if we are able to start them successfully/ in-time!

Speaking of germination rates, we’ve been having a tough tough time with cucumber, zucchini, and pepper germination (Apparently they don’t enjoy a nice warm sauna, so to speak 😅) so those items are currently PAUSED while we troubleshoot. For every plant, light, temperature and soil moisture needs to be exactly what they desire or they refuse to cooperate (🥲), we love seed starting, but it is truly a big task ensuring everybody is happy, so we appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate this season.

There’s been a few questions asking what size of seedlings we sell - good question!

Our rule is that all seedlings have the second set of leaves.

The photos in this carousel are from last season, ~ 1 week before they went to their summer homes.

We specifically set delivery for select weekends in May as this ensures we have passed the last frost.

When shopping for seedlings, timing really matters, seedlings that are started too early will be stunted by the time they reach you. You can be confident this does not happen to our seedlings as we grow on a custom timeline (adapted from West Coast Seeds + prior experience)!

How we began

Nice to meet you! My name is Luna, and I'm the creator of Midnight Nursery. As a first-year university student and plant enthusiast with a passion for business, I'm thrilled to introduce you to my first summer venture.

I settled on the name Midnight Nursery, as all my brightest and most daring ideas come to me in the late hours past midnight — this one included.

This summer project started early April 2020, when I decided to sprout my own seedlings for the garden. With a packet of homegrown seeds, some soil and a few egg cartons; I planted, watered, and waited (and waited and waited) for sprouts thinking that only a few of many seeds would grow.

A week later, to my surprise, my trays filled with many more sprouts that I ever imagined. My friends told me to thin them out, but I found the seedlings to be bright and vibrant little plants with immense potential to produce veggies and a little joy along the way.
