This is part of my “why.”

Being a business owner isn’t always easy.

The hours aren’t always shorter.

The to-do list definitely isn’t smaller.

But I get to build my work around my life,
instead of constantly building my life around my work.

I get to be here for moments like this.

Watching him play.

Listening to his imagination.

Being present for the ordinary afternoons
that I know won’t always look like this.

One day, he’ll be older.

The dominoes will be put away.

He won’t need me quite as much.

So yes, I’m building a business.

But I’m also building a life that lets me be here for this. 🤍

When the person behind the business is human, too. 🤍

If you know me personally, you may know that I have a very real fear of tornadoes and severe weather.

Tonight, when I looked outside and saw the wind swirling, my nervous system went straight into protect mode. I called for my kiddos to get to the basement, and suddenly everything else on the to-do list became completely irrelevant.

And maybe that’s part of why I understand my clients the way I do.

Our homes hold so much more than our stuff. They hold our families, memories, fears, comfort, overwhelm and the places we retreat to when the outside world feels like too much.

At Light Haus Living, I talk a lot about creating spaces that feel calmer and easier to live in. But calm doesn’t mean life is always tidy, organized or under control.

Sometimes calm is simply knowing you have a safe place to land when life gets stormy—literally or figuratively.

Tonight, I’m especially grateful for home. 🏡🤍

Well, that was enough excitement for me in one day. 😅

I swear, Mother Nature is more hormonal than us women sometimes.

For anyone who knows me personally, you know I have a very real fear of tornadoes. It’s something that has been deeply embedded in me since childhood, and after finding myself underneath the beginning stages of one last year, that fear definitely didn’t get any better.

There’s just something about severe weather that sends my nervous system into overdrive.

I often joke that maybe in a past life, some sort of weather disaster was my demise… because this fear seems to run DEEP. 😂🌪️

Either way, I’ve had enough excitement for one day.

Mother Nature, please take the rest of the night off. ✌️

To a neurotypical onlooker, this might just look like clutter.

To an ADHD brain, every single thing has a purpose.

The work bag isn’t put away because I need to inventory it and replenish supplies.
The box of books is waiting to refill the Little Free Library.
The bag is a return I need to make.
Those are donations for the next time I’m heading that direction.
That one is for the Little Free Pantry.
And somewhere in my brain, I’m simultaneously trying to calculate the most efficient time and route to do all of it.
So there it sits.

I step around it 50 times a day.
I’ll do it later.
I need to remember that.
I should take that with me when I go.
Maybe I can add this other thing to the trip too…

Meanwhile, clutter attracts clutter.
One unfinished task becomes five.
The visual noise gets louder.
The mental load gets heavier.

Eventually, the negative self-talk starts:
Why can’t I just put this stuff away?

But here’s the thing:
Sometimes clutter isn’t a lack of organization. It’s a collection of unfinished intentions.

For an brain, getting organized isn’t always about finding a prettier container or trying harder.
Sometimes we need systems that help us close the loops — make the return, drop off the donations, replenish the bag, put the books where they belong — and make it easier for things to actually leave our space.

That’s the kind of organizing I believe in.
Less shame.
Less visual noise.
Fewer open loops.
More clarity. More function. More room to breathe. 🤍

✨ FIRST LAYER: PEELED BACK ✨

Today’s storage unit transformation wasn’t about making everything perfectly organized. It was about creating clarity, visibility, and breathing room. 🤍

We started by:

📦 Decluttering what was no longer needed

🔎 Uncovering what had been buried or forgotten

🧩 Grouping like items together

🚶 Creating better access and flow

🙌 Making it easier to actually SEE what’s here

And what a difference!

This is only Phase One. We’ll be heading back another day to refine the space, create better organization systems, and add labels so everything has an intentional home.

But for today? This is a win. 👏

My clients were so happy that they can finally see what they have and easily grab what they need, when they need it.

Because organizing doesn’t always need to happen in one giant overhaul.

Sometimes we simply peel back one layer at a time. 🧅✨

Less overwhelm.
More visibility.
More function.
More clarity.
