A home designed for entertaining in Edgemont Village, North Vancouver- two spare brick clad, gabled volumes are separated by a high-ceilinged entertaining space, connected upstairs by a bridge. This more traditional form seems to suit the character of the neighbourhood well, yet the spare and crisp detailing and large sheets of glass hint at its modern and open space planning. Our clients are very particular about colours, tones and textures and I’m grateful they have spent the time to get the materials just right- real brick, aluminum windows and clear wooden siding are vital to success of the home. Not to mention the high performance that comes from all the passive solar gain.

Our friend Lukas has successfully launched his “Column” lighting and its truly spectacular .milano. Very honoured to have his work as seen in our own personal home, of course would be better to see in person in Milan for the great debut. Congratulations Lukas and to the team you are all rockstars.

Very special and devoted clients who understand the value of preservation of great westcoast architecture, the Guardians of this special Barry Downs home came to us for a refresh.

Originally designed by Barry Downs and Fred Hollingsworth in 1966, the defining characteristic of this home are the tall forests in the front and back yard. The Douglas fir trees in the front yard have grown to a significant size in the past 50 years, now standing like sentries at the front entry.

Very tempted to make a Business in the Front Party in the Back reference but we are a very serious architectural firm, must remain stoic and professional god forbid our easygoing and playful demeanours as architects shines through. Happy Friday! The sun is out.

Well we saw the kitchen so let’s take it outside to street view. In progress, but the rendering gives us something to look forward to, like clear skies and spring, also very promising.
