I definitely have a soft spot for anything that makes a home feel a little more collected and a little less perfect

Plate racks to exactly that

They’re practical, charming, and over time become a display of the pieces you actually love and use

Display or conceal ?

I’m curious where everyone falls on this one …

Over twenty years later, I still want to escape and go away for the weekend to Erica Barry’s Hampton beach house.

Not because it’s trendy
Not because it’s perfect
And not just because of the kitchen

It’s the books
The writing desk overlooking the ocean
The layers collected over time
The feeling that this home has witnessed family dinners, friendships, heartbreak, celebrations, and quiet morning with coffee

This house isn’t perfectly decorated

It feels lived in

And I think that’s why we’re still talking about it all these years later

A tulipière

Instead of one large arrangement, a tulipière creates a collection of smaller moments that invite you to slow down and look a little closer.

As an interior designer, I’m constantly thinking about placement, spacing and how things relate to one another.

A tulipière does exactly that with flowers.

A beautiful reminder that thoughtful design exists at every scale.

Love this time of year

A handful of flowers from the garden

Nothing fancy. Just something beautiful, fragrant, and fleeting.

The smallest rituals can completely change the mood of a day

The best interiors in TV and movies - according to an interior designer

(in no particular order - although this one felt like a no brainer for the first one)

Episode 1: It’s Complicated

This one is iconic. And not because it’s luxurious or anything expensive, but because it feels lived in.

The kitchen is beautiful and cozy but it’s the layers, the garden and everything in between that make it memorable.

You don’t just admire this home, you imagine yourself in it !

Choosing materials for a front walkway is a lot like choosing finishes for a home

You’re balancing colour, texture, and contrast, trying to create something cohesive without making everything too matchy-matchy

This was our second visit to the stone yard. The first time, it felt overwhelming with all the options and the sheer size of the yard. And because the materials are so large and heavy, it was difficult to gather everything together to view it all side by side, the way I normally would when selecting interior finishes

What sounds simple on paper because a lot of walking back and forth between displays, trying to compare tones, textures and scale. It wasn’t working…

After going home to think about it, we decided that for round two we’d bring along a few leftover bricks from our house to guide the colour palette for our new front walkway

Thankfully, the staff let us borrow a few smaller stones from the display wall and an off-cut of the armour stone we were considering, which made it much easier to see everything together

We even tested different polymeric sand colours outside in the natural light. And now we can confidently say we’ve picked the right materials and colours for our home !

Whether you’re selecting fabric, tile, paint, or stone, seeing materials together is where the design decisions become clear

(And yes, it was a surprisingly fun family adventure too!)

One of my favourite interior design choices: a desk in front of a window

Not because it’s practical (though it is)

Because it acknowledges something we don’t talk about enough: creative work requires looking away. Taking a step back.

Away from the screen.
Away from the page.
Away from the task at hand.

Some of the best ideas arrive when your eyes drift outside for a moment.

Maybe that’s why this layout shows up so often in films. It creates a space for reflection, not just productivity.

And honestly, I think every creative space benefits from a view.

One kitchen - Two concepts

I don’t like giving my clients endless options, but showing up with only one direction isn’t always the answer either. Sometimes the “right” choice only becomes obvious once you can see and compare it to something else.

Having a second concept (and a few extra samples in my back pocket) gives us room to refine the scheme together, if a client is on the fence.

The thing is, my third choice might end up being their favourite…

And honestly, who am I to decide what someone’s favourite should be ?!

Because at the end of the day, my job isn’t to choose *for* someone, it’s to help them find the concept that feels most like home to them
