About PechaKucha Night Winnipeg

PechaKucha Night was devised in 2003 by Klein Dytham Architecture in Tokyo, Japan, and is now hosted in over 1,000 cities around the world. PechaKucha originated and is based on the 20x20 presentation format.

PechaKucha (pronounced pe-chak-cha) is a simple presentation format where presenters show 20 images, each for 20 seconds. The images forward automatically as they talk (or sometimes, perform) along to the images. Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of conversation (“chit chat”), the format keeps the presentations concise and moving at a rapid pace. It has turned into a massive celebration, with events happening in hundreds of cities around the world, inspiring creatives worldwide.

PechaKucha Night Winnipeg (PKN WPG) has been organized and hosted by the Manitoba Chapter of the Graphic Designers of Canada since the first Volume in February of 2010. Volumes are typically held quarterly at the Park Theatre, and each event is an evening of ideas, stories and inspiration.

PechaKucha Night Winnipeg is not just for industry professionals. Our goal is to expand the definition of creativity, highlight Winnipeg’s talents and diversity, and allow all sorts of people to interact, cross-pollinate, and present their ideas.
