An iconic prairie species who once was found in great numbers across western Canada's grasslands has seen steady and steep population declines over the last 50 years. Manitoba's population teeters on expiration. In 2020, two pairs of wild burrowing owls successfully nested and raised 11 young. These are the first nests on record for MB since 2011. AND... one nest was in an artificial nest burrow that was installed in 2017 by MBORP. So exciting!!
