Can I grow my orchids in your soilless mix?" 🌸 I get asked this all the time, and the answer is a resounding YES!

​Most of my personal collection thrives in my custom chunky blend. If you look closely at the pots in this tray, you can see that airy, chunky texture they love so much. It’s the perfect environment to prevent root rot and keep those roots thick and healthy.

​My Orchid Pro-Tip: Most store-bought orchids come packed tightly in moss. I always recommend waiting until they finish blooming before you repot them. Once they are ready, moving them into a high-drainage, soilless mix is the best thing you can do for their long-term health!

Taking a little break from mixing bags today to appreciate the star of my shelves! 🌸 This beauty is Paph. Yi-Ying Morning Sun (a cross of Hsinying Rainbow × Red Czar).

​She arrived a couple of weeks ago and has settled into her new home perfectly. I get asked often if my custom chunky mix works for orchids—and while most of my collection thrives in it, I always recommend letting new arrivals acclimate for a few weeks (especially while blooming!) before repotting.

​For now, I’m just soaking up those incredible mottled leaves and that deep purple pouch. This is exactly why I do what I do! 💜

📢 Product Update: Maximizing Your Mix! 🌿

I have some exciting news to share about my custom soilless potting mix!

​As many of you know, I’ve always sold my mix in 4L and 7L volumes. You may have noticed that once the bag was opened and upright, the product would settle, leaving open room at the top. While those bags always contained a full, honest measurement of mix, I realized during a recent quality check that these bags actually have the room to hold quite a bit more!

​To give you the most value possible and save on packaging, I’ve decided to "max out" my bags and move to full 5L and 8L fills.

The Breakdown:

• ​Same Bags, More Volume: I’m using the same high-quality bags, but I’m filling them to their true 5L and 8L capacity.

• ​Honest Measurements: You’ve always received a full 4L or 7L, but now you’ll be getting even more of that premium substrate in every bag (that’s 4 extra cups of mix in the 5L size!).

• ​Price Adjustment: Because of the extra volume, there will be a slight price change to reflect the new amount.

​I’m currently finishing up the transition and will post the new price list once these "plumper" bags are ready for pick-up. I wanted to be totally transparent with you all about why the bags will look fuller and why the price is shifting!

🌿 MY SECRET FOR LUSH AND RESILIENT PLANTS

I get asked a lot about what I use for plant nutrition and protection. The premium lineup I like to use for my personal collection is Foliage Focus, GT Silica and SNS 209. I also keep budget-friendly options like Miracle-Gro on hand but I find that my go to mix is worth the investment when I see the results of my plants overall health.

​THE GOLDEN RULE: MIXING ORDER MATTERS! 🧪

To get the best results and ensure your nutrients don't "lock out," follow this specific order:

1. ​GT SILICA (The Armor):
Always add this to your water first! Wait 20 minutes after stirring it in before adding anything else. Think of this as "armor" for your plants—it strengthens the cell walls, making stems sturdier and leaves more rigid. It even helps your plants resist pests and heat stress by toughening up their natural defenses. 💪🛡️

2. ​GT FOLIAGE FOCUS (The Fuel):
Next, add your Foliage Focus. This is a professional-grade, complete nutrient. It’s "chelated," meaning the minerals are already "pre-digested" so your plants drink them up instantly. No urea or chlorides here, so no more crispy leaf tips! 🍃✨

3. ​SNS 209 (The Shield):
Finally, mix in the SNS 209. This is a systemic pest control made from rosemary oil. The plant absorbs it into its roots and leaves, making the plant itself taste "bad" to spider mites, thrips, and fungus gnats. It’s protection from the inside out! 🚫🕷️

​Budget-Friendly Tip: 💡

I know the premium stuff is an investment! If it’s not in the budget right now, Miracle-Gro Indoor or their Water Soluble powder are still great ways to give your plants the N-P-K boost they need to grow.

​Whether you're using the "gold standard" or sticking to the basics, consistency is the real secret to a happy jungle! 🚿🌿
