Huronia Nurseries Ltd. prides itself for growing quality, locally grown acclimatized plant material. In 1949 Milt Leonard planted his first tree seed. SInce it takes 3 years for a tree seedling to develop from seed to plant, Milt started Huronia Nurseries in 1952.Since that time Huronia Nurseries has been growing ornamental and coniferous trees as well as flowering shrubs and evergreens. In 1991 M

ilt's son Gord, along with his wife Beverley and their son Darrell, purchased the business from MIlt and continue to grow nursery stock. In May 2012, with deep sorrow and greatly missed, Gord passed away due to pancreatic cancer. Darrell along with his mom Beverley continue to grow nursery stock for the homeowner and landscape trade. Along with trees, shrubs and evergreens, Huronia Nurseries also grows a limited selection of hardy perennials and beautiful annual flowers from their greenhouse. By growing a large majority of what is sold on the farm, Huronia Nurseries plant material is acclimatized to our growing area of Georgian Bay and not introduced or brought in from outside Canada. Consumers need to know where their product is grown so that the plant material will survive the Georgian Bay climate. This philosophy echoes the trend of "Buy Local" and the "100 Mile Diet". Huronia Nurseries Ltd. Is now open for the 2026 season. Our hours are mon to fri 8 am to 5 pm, Sat 8 am to 3 pm and Sun 10 am to 3 pm. There is still lots of digging to do as it's been a touch later and wet spring.

Huronia Nurseries Ltd. will be opening this coming Monday April 21st. Our hours will be Mon. - Fri. 8 am till 5 pm, Saturdays 8 am till 3 pm, and Sundays 10 am till 3 pm. We haven't started to field dig yet as the fields are still very wet. We do have some shrubs and white cedars in the yard that are ready to be planted. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you. 😀
