We’re happy to share- Dameron was recognized with a 2025 AIA New York State Small Firm Award as well as a 2025 AIA Brooklyn award for our work with material reuse.
Most of what we do starts the same way: with hundreds of sketches. Hand drawing helps us work fast, test ideas, and lets our minds explore the possibilities of spaces, instead of locking them in too early inside a computer. It’s old school, analog, and a little wild sometimes.
We like to think our built projects still carry a bit of that looseness and are an extension of that process- shaped by iteration, curiosity- never erasing, just moving on to the next sketch.
It’s personally fulfilling for us to be recognized by our peers in the AIA when the profession is going in an increasingly computerized, mechanized, AI-ified direction.
It shows that there is still room for this technique- that small scale craft and the art of architecture matters to architects, and what that process translates into is appreciated. It gives us the confidence to keep doing it with graphite on our hands. The imperfect human brain is still the best tool for this job, no matter what method you use to usher spaces into the physical world :)
