ASIAN STREET FOOD MEETS ZURICH'S HERITAGE
With Soï 28 by Stefan Heilemann , Widder Hotel has expanded its hospitality offering with a vibrant dining destination in the heart of Zurich’s Old Town. Located within one of the city’s most iconic hotels, the restaurant is part of a place where history, culture, architecture, and contemporary hospitality have been intertwined for decades.
The Widder Hotel itself is a remarkable architectural story. Behind its walls lie nine medieval townhouses, once home to noble families, guild masters, merchants, and craftsmen. Historic stone walls, timber structures, original details, and carefully restored elements exist alongside contemporary interventions, creating a dialogue between past and present that has become part of the hotel's identity.
Inspired by the lively side streets of Asia, Soï 28 brings this dialogue one step further. The restaurant combines authentic street and soul food with Stefan Heilemann’s refined culinary signature. The name references both the vibrant alleys of Bangkok and its address at Augustinergasse 28, linking Asian dining culture with Zurich’s historic urban fabric.
Monoplan developed the interior design as a careful extension of the Widder story. Selected accessories and decorative elements subtly reference everyday Asian living, while the historic architecture remains the main stage. The result is a layered experience where Zurich’s heritage, the character of the Widder Hotel, and the energy of Asian street food culture come together naturally. Food concept, branding, and interior design all speak the same language.
Just as the Widder Hotel successfully combines centuries of history with contemporary design, Soï 28 creates a bridge between old and new, local and international, tradition and innovation.
