At the beginning of 2026, we were honored to design a spatial apparatus for artist Biin Shen’s artwork Between 0&1: Future Response, presented at the Chengdu Biennale – Pulse of Life. Developed under “Architecture+ / Interdisciplinary,” one of our studio’s ongoing design and research trajectories, the project constructs a spatial apparatus for Biin Shen’s Between 0&1: Future Response. The installation does not simply present the work, but reorganizes it—translating algorithmic feedback into a physical environment and reframing the relationship between body, machine, and perception.

Those in Chengdu, or planning to visit this year, are welcome to experience the work in person.

The pavilion concept, “Wandering Matrix,” juxtaposes rational, precise modular grids with free and exploratory movement. Visitors wander within an ordered system, experiencing variation within standardization. This concept also responds to the brand’s global exhibition needs. A 3×3-meter module (approximately 10×10-feet) serves as the basic unit, forming a universally adaptable system that maintains strong structural identity while allowing diverse spatial configurations.

Wandering Matrix: O-Wood Pavilion at 2025 Guangzhou Design Week

As a key stage in O-Wood’s brand upgrade, the pavilion was conceived as a physical expression of brand values rather than a simple material display. Responding to global environmental issues and the properties of SPC materials, the curatorial team proposed “Material Honesty” and “Environmental Sustainability” as core principles. The spatial design team employs a modular construction system to translate the brand’s values—zero formaldehyde, recyclability, prefabrication, customization, and sustainability—into perceivable spatial experience.

At key visual nodes, curved walls formed by bent SPC panels create expressive surfaces while guiding circulation and organizing exhibition, meeting, resting, and storage programs. After the exhibition, all structural frames, furniture, and samples are fully recoverable for future reuse, extending the life cycle of the pavilion system.
