JinTeng Award goes to Thai Firm Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee / HAS design and research

The Jin’Teng Award is one of the most prestigious and influential architectural and interior design awards in the world, celebrating excellence in architecture and interior design on a global scale. This year, the Jin’Teng Award honored Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee / HAS Design and Research as the first Thai firm to receive the award. Renowned Thai architects Professor Jenchieh Hung and Professor Kulthida Songkittipakdee were recognized as 2026 laureates for their project, Forest Villa. Sakarn Saensopa, Commercial Consul of the Royal Thai Consulate-General Shanghai, represented Thailand and received the award on stage.

The project was celebrated for its innovative design and sustainable approach to architecture. Their work centers on creating environments that foster human well-being while remaining in harmony with both the natural world and the social context in which they exist. With a strong commitment to material honesty, contextual sensitivity, and environmental harmony, Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee / HAS Design and Research envisions architecture that coexists with nature rather than depleting it. This recognition marks a historic moment for Thai architecture, as it is the first time a Thai architectural practice has received this prestigious award winner recognition, further cementing the firm’s growing global influence.

Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee / HAS Design and Research: The First Thai Firm to Win Jin'Teng Award

The renowned Thai architects, Professor Jenchieh Hung and Professor Kulthida Songkittipakdee, founders of the internationally recognized Bangkok-based firm Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee / HAS Design and Research, have recently achieved a significant milestone. The firm has been honored with the prestigious Jin'Teng Award, one of China's highest international accolades, recognizing exceptional contributions to architecture and design. This award, which celebrates global excellence, has named the firm as a 2026 laureate for their exemplary project, Forest Villa. This accolade reflects the firm’s core design philosophy, which prioritizes sustainability and ecological stewardship. Their work is centered on creating environments that foster human well-being while remaining in harmony with both the natural world and the social context in which they exist. With a commitment to material honesty, contextual sensitivity, and environmental harmony, Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee / HAS Design and Research envisions architecture that coexists with nature, rather than depleting it. This recognition marks a historic moment for Thai architecture, as it is the first time a Thai architectural practice has received this prestigious honor, further cementing the firm’s growing global influence.

Alongside their architectural practice, both Professor Jenchieh Hung and Professor Kulthida Songkittipakdee are committed educators. They hold roles as lifetime honorary professors and have also served as visiting professors, adjunct professors, and design critics in architecture at leading institutions, including Chulalongkorn University, Tongji University, World University of Design, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, and Kasetsart University. Their academic involvement is complemented by their contributions as jurors for the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) – RIBA International Awards: Asia Pacific Awards. At the crossroads of design innovation and social responsibility, the Thailand-based firm Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee / HAS Design and Research continues to shape the architectural discourse of Southeast Asia. Their projects go beyond mere physical structures; they create a dialogue that connects place, memory, and identity. Professor Jenchieh Hung and Professor Kulthida Songkittipakdee believe that architecture should not only reflect the collective experience but also inspire new ways of thinking. Their work blends tradition with innovation and community with identity, rejecting superficial spectacle in favor of depth and meaning. Through their thoughtful approach, they demonstrate that architecture, at its best, is human, poetic, and responsible—inviting us to view design not just as form, but as a vision for the future.

🥰The designer connects the material of the ruins with the vitality, and the mirror extends the depth of the space and divides the spiritual order.
🔥The combination of marble and leather, cement texture, and orderly arrangement of lamps shows the rhythm and conflict of The Times.

🥰In the mountainous and hilly areas of Sichuan, the design of streets and alleys usually takes into account the undulation and slope of the terrain to adapt to changes in terrain.

🌈Street and alley “is the most representative public space in the city, and the design hopes to continue the local nature of this” three-dimensional street and alley “, so that the space, crowd, and experience are simultaneously staggered, forming a unique community of the brand.

🥰🥰The design depicts the mood of the space through materials and textures, constructs the field with old objects with traces of time, describes the power of things after years of refinement, makes people feel quiet and humble in the field, evoks the warm memory in people's emotional depths, expresses the simple philosophy, and complements the brand concept of Tianshui.😍😍

🎍The exaggerated shape of the bamboo forest breaks the original correct shape of the space, blurs the sense of the interface of the space, and with the soft warm light of the ceiling lamp film, customers feel as if they are in the valley of the forest.🪑The booth area is stacked with bricks, adding some green plants, and matching with natural materials to restore the outdoor feeling to the greatest extent.
