The idea of this concept was originally inspired during Mr. Robuchon’s travel and experience in Japan, combined with his discovery of tapas bars in Spain. L’Atelier translates to “workshop”, where using more stylish colors — bold black and red instead of the classic gold and white colors specific to many luxury French restaurants. This place is unique, warm hearted, opened on the kitchens stoves,

where customers immediately feel at ease, far away from classic restaurants. L’Atelier de Joël Robuchon in Shanghai has the largest teppanyaki in Asia surrounded by 32 seats in the signature open kitchen, as well as 16 seats at the tables around, where customers can observe the preparation of Joël Robuchon’s signature dishes by Executive Chef Francky Semblat who has been working alongside Joël Robuchon for 19 years and his team. The interactive atmosphere immerses guests in the unusual dining experience where gastronomy rhymes with conviviality. Also, this set up is completed by 3 private rooms, each of them accommodating up to 8 guests.
