 A building designed to live connected.

A Regional Airport

Inside the terminal, the boundary between waiting and walking, interior and garden, dissolves.

Three pavilions — boarding, corridor, service — sit beneath continuous thatched roofs supported by laminated timber columns. The envelope is open: vegetation, light, and air move through the section.

Materials are direct and tropical:
· Wood for structure, screens, and ceiling
· Thatch for the roof
· Polished concrete underfoot
· Stone channels marking thresholds
· A garden, always within view

Waiting becomes a moment in the landscape rather than a moment apart from it. Even the smallest details — a fan, a wicker chair, a screen of timber slats — carry the same logic: built from what the place already gives.

H15 — Project Update

The project continues to evolve through the integration of structure, landscape, and climate. As construction progresses, the architecture begins to emerge from the terrain—strengthening the relationship between space, vegetation, and the tropical environment.

LTR1 is an Architizer A+Awards Finalist.

One of only five projects worldwide shortlisted in the Unbuilt Multi-Unit Housing (L >10 Floors) category — and now competing for the A+ Popular Choice Award.

LTR1 is a mixed-use vertical project in Nuevo Cuscatlán, El Salvador, shaped by its landscape and rooted in the principles of Tropical Vertical Urbanism: density that gives back to the city around it.

The Popular Choice vote is decided by the public — if the project speaks to you, your vote means a great deal.

LANDMARK
SPIRITUAL CENTER

Located along the river, the project engages the riparian forest as a living system—supporting biodiversity, filtering water, and creating a continuous ecological corridor.

Inspired by the spatial qualities of a cave, the architecture works with shadow, texture, and filtered light to generate a sense of protection and stillness.

Minimal intervention defines the strategy.

Flexible spaces for yoga, meditation, and retreat are embedded within the landscape, allowing experience to unfold through movement, silence, and time.

A regional airport designed not as infrastructure imposed on the landscape, but as architecture that emerges from it.

Three ideas shape the project:

01 — TRADITION. The pavilion borrows from Costa Rican vernacular: deep porches, timber framing, low pitched roofs that breathe. A familiar local language, applied at the scale of arrival.

02 — PERCEPTION. To fly is to see the land from above. The roof — visible from the air — becomes the building's primary façade.

03 — FORM. The triangular plan is not arbitrary. It responds to airflow direction, the geometry of the existing runway, and the internal flows between public, private and pilot spaces.

The result: a thatched, timber-framed terminal that lands lightly between jungle and tarmac.
